Maisie Williams on finding out about her Emmy nomination, taking her mom to the ceremony

Last week, Game of Thrones was nominated for a huge pile of Emmys, and Maisie Williams joined in the fun with a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama. Williams, who’s been playing Arya Stark on Game of Thrones for six years now, was gobsmacked.

And who can forget this Instagram reaction?

Like, really, who can forget it? I don’t know if it’s physically possible.

Anyway, Williams talked to People about her nomination, the first of her career, and explains how she owes everything to her mom. It’s a sweet interview.

The Emmys will air on September 18. In her category, Williams is up against Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Lena Headey (Cersei), two of her Game of Thrones costars, as well as Maggie Smith, Maura Tierney, and Constance Zimmer. It should be an intense evening.

Until then, Williams is here to lighten the mood with this meme. How will the conversation be like if Arya and Sansa ever meet back up? It might go a little something like this:

In other Game of Thrones celebrity news, actor and modern-day super-viking Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane), after years marked by crazy feats of strength, has lost the title of Europe’s Strongest Man to Laurence Shahlaei, a 32-year-old father and the first Englishman to win the title in 27 years. Björnsson was not available for comment, because we didn’t ask him, but we can assume he’s tearing apart bowling balls with his bare hands in frustration.

No, we’re sure he’s fine, and will probably break some new strength record before long. Forcing the Earth to spin the other way, perhaps? Björnsson’s been having fun on social media, too. Here he is with his girlfriend, still in his Mountain makeup…

…and here he is playing his helmet. Who’s gonna take it away from him?

Meanwhile, Conan Stevens, the first guy to play Gregor Clegane, has scored a role in Encantadia, a Filipino fantasy series about warring kingdoms. Stevens talked about the similarities between Encantadia and Game of Thrones at a press conference.

"I can see the inspiration, I can see the similarities. The show will start and find it’s own way. There’s going to be some similarities right now but I think the Filipinos’ creativity is world-class. This is just the demonstration of what is the start of something that’s going to be really big."

We with both Mountains the best of luck, and will look forward to seeing who takes home the Best Supporting Actress Emmy this September.
