WiC Live: We talk new locations and new characters for Game of Thrones Season 7

Game of Thrones Season 6 is over and production on Game of Thrones Season 7 hasn’t officially begun, but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk endlessly about the show. In fact, it was a big week for news, as one cast member confirmed that she had received scripts for Season 7, another cast member reacted breathlessly to them, new shooting locations were uncovered, and casting calls for new characters surfaced. There was, in short, a lot to discuss.

That’s what we did on this week’s edition of WiC Live. This is something we do every Wednesday at 4:00 over on our Facebook page. It’s hosted by me, Dan Selcke, in all my pasty nerdiness, and videographer extraordinaire Kayla Knierim. Behold:

Now that the actors have their scripts and at least some of the crew members are in Belfast, we can assume that production on Season 7 will start in earnest in the next bunch of weeks. Remember: HBO delayed filming on the new season for a while so it could shoot during snowy, wintery weather. The snows likely won’t start falling for a couple of months, so it’ll likely film some scenes in clear weather as well. It takes all kinds of climates to make a season of television.

Kayla, incidentally, has never seen the show. She’s planning to watch it episode by episode, and to work through her feelings about it on WiC Live. (With interruptions if we have oodles of news to discuss.) The plan is to start that next week. It should be curious. Beyond that, if you have topics you’d like us to discuss, please suggest them. A deep dive into the fan theories? A look at where Game of Thrones fits in the history of fantasy television? An episode where we can only speak in British accents? (Please no.) It’s all fair game.
