Production on Game of Thrones Season 7 officially begins in Belfast!

It has begun. Recently, we’ve heard about cast members receiving scripts and turning up in Belfast, long the filming center for Game of Thrones. Now, it looks like production, or at least proper preproduction, on Season 7 has started. A fan spotted one of the show’s signature pink production signs in the city, not far from Titantic Studios, where the show shoots many of its interior shots.

We’ve had to wait a little longer for this that usual. In the past, production on a new season has kicked off soon after the last season airs. But this year, HBO held off so it could film during the snowy months later in the year (and early next year). Winter, after all, has finally come to Westeros, and HBO needs a landscape to match.

Fansite Watchers on the Wall has another scoop. Apparently, some of the Northern Irish extras in the area are dressed as members of House Mormont. That means they’re working for fan favorite Lyanna Mormont. There may only be 62 Mormont soldiers available, but as Lyanna told us in “The Broken Man,” one man from Bear Island is wroth 10 from the mainland. Granted all the Houses say stuff like that, but we’re not about to contradict her.

We’ll bring you more news about Season 7 production as it breaks. It’s all happening, people.
