WiC Live: Game of Thrones Emmy preview, Season 7 spoilers, and more

It’s a lively time to be a Game of Thrones fan. With filming for Season 7 well underway, spoilers are leaking out the edges of the production, and even though we shouldn’t look, we just can’t help ourselves. On this week’s episode of WiC Live, we break down some of those spoilers, and forecast what they may mean for the new year.

Oh, and SPOILER WARNING, obviously.

But that’s not all. The 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards are coming up this Sunday, and Game of Thrones is nominated for a pile of awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actor (for Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage), Outstanding Supporting Actress (for Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, and Maisie Williams), Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Writing, and Best Drama. Note that Game of Thrones won’t be eligible for the 69th Annual Primetime Emmys, so this is its last chance to win an embarrassment of awards for a while. What, if anything, will it win? We give our predictions. FanSided editor Josh Hill joins us for the occasion.

Towards the end, we also check in on Kayla Knierim’s progress through Game of Thrones, in a segment we call “Kayla Knows Nothing.” Get it? Because…you get it. Kayla was a Game of Thrones newbie before too long ago, so she’s watching the series an episode at a time. This week, she took in “Lord Snow,” which features the introductions of characters like Littlefinger, Varys, and Pycelle. I’ll admit that it’s weirdly fascinating to watch her form opinions that have long been set in stone by those of us who’ve been watching for a while.

Thank you for enduring our pasty nerdiness. Check back next week for an Emmys post-mortem and more from the wonderful world of Game of Thrones news.
