It’s time to recap the week in Game of Thrones news. And it was pretty big week for Game of Thrones news.

Let’s not bury the lede. Early in the week, HBO dropped a teaser trailer for its 2017 programming slate. In it were the first official images from Game of Thrones Season 7. Check out the video…

…or see the screenshots.

On the book side of things, A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin gave an update on his progress.

Actors Rory Dignam and Brendan Morrissey have been cast in Game of Thrones Season 7. Morrissey’s character’s name gives us a clue as to where he’ll fit in the plot.

Ellie Kendrick (Meera Reed) gives her take on one of the odder Game of Thrones fan theories out there.

Sophie Turner, who’s been hitting the interview trail fairly hard of late, gives us some hints about Sansa’s future.

Filming on Game of Thrones Season 7 hums along near Malpartida, but there’s some dissension in the ranks that could slow things down.

HBO is currently bringing an interactive Game of Thrones fan event to several cities throughout the country. We went to the one in Chicago and chatted with Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell).

Next, Threezero is adding to their line of hyper-detailed Game of Thrones action figures with one based on the Mother of Dragons.

Huge as he is, even Gregor Clegane has to die sometime. Although he’s technically already dead…whatever. The actor behind the Mountain discusses his character’s end.

This next one’s great: a fan got a hold of a video showing some serious pyrotechnics work behind the scenes of Game of Thrones Season 7.

And here’s a bonus story: Anne Rice is turning her Vampire Chronicles novels into a TV show. And there’s only one place to go for inspiration…
