19. Lady Lyanna Mormont

Lady Lyanna was an instant hit. She’s only 10, but carries herself like a seasoned war veteran. She’s got no time for idle chit-chat when the lives of the men in her army are at stake, or in general. Lyanna proves that a child can be a more competent leader than most adults in Westeros.

From our few interactions with her, we get a sense this young lady grew up in a family of warriors. Her mother, Maege Mormont, died fighting for Robb Stark in the War of Five Kings. Bear Island doesn’t discriminate when it comes to their fighters—men and women are on equal playing fields.

Lyanna also has a strong sense of loyalty, something we learned before she even appeared on screen. She sent a letter to Stannis Baratheon saying her House knew only one King in the North, and his name was Stark. And after the Battle of the Bastards, where her 62 soldiers fought for Jon Snow, it’s she who first names him King in the North. All the other Houses follow.

This was the first television role for Bella Ramsey, and it’s safe to say she knocked it out of the park. We know better than to get too attached to a Game of Thrones character, but we want the best for Lady Lyanna.
