UPDATED: Season 7 filming: Lannisters invade Cáceres as cast members come together in Belfast

Things are happening on the Season 7 filming front. Just yesterday, we brought you photos of the Game of Thrones production team setting up shop in the city of Cáceres, Spain, where it shoot scenes on December 14 and 15. We’ve thought for a while that Cáceres will stand in for King’s Landing, and new photos from Twitter user @javiborrega back that up. Check out the Lannister flags arrayed the ground:

And here we have what looks like a marketplace being set up in the Plaza de las Veletas—some King’s Landing merchat will call this place home in Season 7, I’m sure:

Twitter user @MakaVet also tweeted some pics. Notice the villa with the fountain out front:

Now begin the SPOILERS.

We also finally have confirmation that Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) is in Cáceres, courtesy of a video she herself uploaded of a visit to an ice rink in the city.

Notice the sign on the right side of the image—it clearly says “Cáceres.” According to Los Siete Reinos, this ice rink is called Cereslandia. If Clarke was trying to throw people off the scent by posting pictures of herself somewhere cold (Cáceres is fairly temperate at this time of year), it almost worked.

More than likely, Clarke will not be part of the shoot in Cáceres next week. She’s in town to participate in the nearby shoot at el Barrueco de Arriba, where the production is just now wrapping filming on a lengthy battle scene. Prosthetic artist Adrian Rigby posted a quick shot from set, saying he’ll be sad to leave the area behind “for now.”

The battle scene involves Daenerys riding a dragon into the fray. (Head here for a full description of what happens.) Clarke shot most of that on a sound stage in Belfast, but apparently she has to do some up-close-and-personal shots as well.

And here’s Clarke and David Benioff, looking very enthusiastic, at a “wrap party.” If true, it suggests that filming at filming at Los Barruecos is well and truly finished.

Another interesting tidbit from Belfast: check out the lower right-hand photo in this collage.

The table is labeled “Davos skiff.” A while back, the production filmed a scene at Muriola Beach in Spain involving Peter Dinklage (Tyrion), Joe Dempsie (Gendry), and Liam Cunningham (Davos). In summary formed, the scene involved Davos rowing himself and Tyrion on to a beach in King’s Landing. (More details here.) Might the produciton shoot another component to that scene in Cáceres?

Moving on to Belfast, Rory McCann (The Hound), Iain Glen (Ser Jorah Mormont), Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane), and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) are all in the area.

Speaking of Belfast, the Game of Thrones production is in the midst of a weeks-long shoot at Wolf Hall Quarry. The team has turned the area into a snowy wonderland, complete with a frozen lake with an island in the middle.

Kit Harington has already been spotted on the Wolf Hill Quarry set, which looks like it’s going to stand in for an area beyond the Wall. It’s likely that Glen, Hivju, and McCann will all join him, meaning that Jon, Jorah, Tormund, and the Hound (and maybe more) will probably be taking a trip into the far north together. That all lines up with a massive Season 7 plot leak that broke a while back.

We expect the scenes shot at Wolf Hill Quarry to be very important in Season 7. More as it breaks.
