The Academy Awards air this Sunday, and when they do, it’ll mean that the 2016 awards season is finally, at long last over. As always, Game of Thrones was well represented at a battery of award shows leading up to the Oscars. Now that’s the season is pretty much over, we thought we’d take a look back and see how it did. Stroll with us for a second down recent memory lane.

Most of the award shows honoring movies and TV in 2016 occur early in 2017. But there’s one big exception: the Emmys, TV’s biggest night, fell in September of 2016, and Game of Thrones was well-represented. It won awards most prestigious awards for Outstanding Writing (David Benioff and Dan Weiss for “Battle of the Bastards”), Outstanding Directing (Miguel Sapochnik for the same episode) and Outstanding Drama. With those wins, it became the most decorated drama in the history of the Emmys. Not a bad way to start award season.

Then came 2017, and a bevy of appearances at more specialized award shows. Let’s count ’em down.

National Television Awards (January 25)

Best Drama

  • Casualty (WINNER)
  • The Night Manager
  • Cold Feet
  • Game of Thrones
  • Happy Valley

This award was focused on British shows. It’s kind of neat that Game of Thrones was nominated at all, it being made in Hollywood and all.

ACE Eddie Awards (January 27)

Best Edited One-Hour Series – Non-commercial

  • The Crown, “Assassins” (Yan Miles, ACE)
  • Game of Thrones, “Battle of the Bastards” (Tim Porter, ACE) (WINNER)

  • Stranger Things, “Chapter Seven: The Bathtub” (Kevin D. Ross)
  • Westworld, “The Original” (Stephen Semel, ACE & Marc Jozefowicz)

These were the awards for best editing. It was pretty hard to beat Game of Thrones in the technical categories this year, not with “Battle of the Bastards” fresh in everyone’s brains.

Game of Thrones has been nominated for this award every year it’s been on the air, only won once: for season 5. This time, it went to freshman genre drama Stranger Things.

  • Game of Thrones, “Battle of the Bastards”—Meereen City
  • Game of Thrones, “Battle of the Bastards”—Retaking Winterfell (WINNER)
  • Game of Thrones, “The Door”—Land of Always Winter

Again, the show largely swept the technical awards this year. Hard to argue with the special effects work on Dany’s dragons during the Battle of Meereen.

It didn’t win the Excellent in Production Design award, though. Huh. Riverrun will be recognized.

Writers Guild Awards (February 19)

  • Better Call Saul, “Klick”

Did the awesome makeup on the Children of the Forest have anything to do with these wins? If not, it should have.

And finally, the showed picked up one last statue at the Costume Designs Guild Awards.
