3) JOHN BRADLEY-WEST

Hailing from Wythenshaw, South Manchester, Bradley-West is best known to us as the timid but resilient Samwell Tarly. His Game of Thrones role is his first major job, and he landed it though his college website.

Bradley-West has popped up in a number of TV series since his debut on Thrones, playing Giovanni De Medici in Borgia, Wesley in Shameless and Tyr Seward in the 2012 TV series Merlin (along with a slew of other Game of Thrones alumni, including Donald Sumpter, Liam Cunningham, Alexander Siddig, Joe Dempsie, Charles Dance, Clive Russel, James Cosmo and Julian Glover). It looks like his stint on Merlin (see photo, above) didn’t require much of a shave or costume change…

Bradley-West also has a great role in the movie Traders (2015). He plays Vernon Stynes, a laid-off bean counter living a life of quiet desperation who sets up a web page where miserable people can meet and fight to the death for money (each brings their entire life savings). In an interview with Vice, Bradley-West compared Vernon to another repulsive villain:

"I’ve always likened Vernon to the Penguin in Batman. You expect him to be friendly and open. It’s definitely a Freudian thing—round things you’re drawn to. They seem comforting. And the thing about Vernon and the Penguin is they’re both very soft and look very playful, but are incredibly sinister."

It looks like Bradley-West is working hard on his Game of Thrones extracurricular projects: look for him to pop up in American Satan and Patient Zero (with Game of Thrones costar Natalie Dormer, who plays Margaery Tyrell) later this year.
