This week on Take the Black, Isis, Luke, and your’s truly break down Game of Thrones, Episode 506, “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken.” This episode was an emotional roller coaster for us to discuss, but we powered through. Topics include the development of Arya’s story in the House of Black and White, as she goes from a corpse/floor scrubber to a girl who is not yet ready to become no one, yet ready to become someone else. We talk about the new bromance between Tyrion and Jorah, the arrival of Mr. Eko, and how one becomes a Cock Merchant. We also debate whether the Sand Snakes and Dorne should even be in the show at this point.
I will warn you, we mood turns serious once we begin to talk about Sansa’s story in Winterfell. Luke and I give our opinions on Sansa’s waking nightmare, and Isis weighs in with her thoughts about that final scene—she doesn’t give the response that one might expect from a respected and vocal feminist.
As always, Take the Black is an Unsullied-friendly podcast. Luke and Isis have not read the books, as is evidenced by their adorable theories about what’s going to happen. Even though I have read A Song of Ice and Fire several times, I refuse to spoil anything despite being sorely tempted by my two Unsullied co-hosts. We do compare some situations in the show to the books, but don’t give anything away.
