Exploring the TARDIS, Davros audio review, the Doctor’s face, Maisie Williams on ‘Physician Who,’ Doctor Who collector’s book, & Churchill spin-off details!

Good morning, Doctor Who Watchers!

It’s Monday, so yesterday was the last day off for most of us, and even the Sunday news was a little light (understandably so — we all deserve a bit of a break).

More from Doctor Who

Yesterday on Doctor Who Watch, we talked about the need to explore more of the TARDIS interior, had the second of our I, Davros reviews from writer James Aggas, and put forth a new theory about why the Twelfth Doctor resembles Peter Capaldi‘s character Caecilius from ‘The Fires of Pompeii.’

From elsewhere around the net, we’ve got details on a cool new Doctor Who collector’s edition book at Barnes & Noble, a look back at ‘The Waters of Mars,’ and new details on Big Finish‘s new Winston Churchill spin-off.

That collector’s edition book is pretty awesome; I may have to pick up a copy, especially considering how quickly those things usually end up in the clearance section up front. I’m wary of the Churchill spin-off, as it’s easily the least exciting of the new series works recently announced by Big Finish, but these new details are intriguing.

Before we get to those stories, though, I have to share one more that I found last night. It comes from a site called Observer Chronicle, a low-rent site with no ownership or contact information anywhere to be found. They covered the recent news by Steven Moffat that Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams would NOT be playing a returning character on Doctor Who, but their article is a little different than the rest. It reads as though the original story were copied-and-pasted into an unknown language on Google Translate, then translated back again into English again.

Here’s the headline and a brief snippet (though I highly recommend reading the whole thing):

Maisie Williams has ‘vital position’ on ‘Physician Who’ –  Observer Chronicle

"Williams is greatest often known as Arya Stark on HBO’s “Recreation of Thrones,” and Moffat says her position on “Physician Who” is totally different for the 18-year-old actress.“If individuals are massively related to a much-loved present, then it is good to have them in your present. The viewers is intelligent. They know you are enjoying any person else. They do not get confused,” he stated."

Great stuff. All right, now onto the real news…

First, here’s a look at this morning’s top stories here at Doctor Who Watch:

Doctor Who Needs to Explore the TARDIS in More Depth – Dave Hill

REVIEW: I, Davros: Purity (Doctor Who Audio Spin-Off) – James Aggas

Doctor Who: The Mystery of the Twelfth Doctor’s Face – Joel Getter

"I propose that the Doctor subconsciously chose the face of Caecilius as an important reminder to the dangers of altering the timelines. How is it possible for the Doctor to know in advance he would be dealing with the Davros issue? Regeneration is extremely tricky."

And here are this morning’s top Doctor Who stories from around the internet:

Barnes & Noble Collectible Editions: Two Doctor Who Novels in One – Kasterborous

The Waters of Wars: The Best of the Specials – Doctor Who TV

"As rare an opinion it is, I personally dislike Tennant’s Doctor. After his insufferably smug relationship with Rose, cruel treatment of Martha and messianic image I thought he was self-pitying, hypocritical and egotistical. This is why I love the ‘Time Lord victorious’ development, as it was highly refreshing to see his numerous undesirable traits depicted in an inherently negative manner."

Doctor Who: Which Doctor are you? – Radio Times

Lily Arwell Returns in The Churchill Years, Story Details – Doctor Who TV

"Holly first appeared as Lily in the 2011 Doctor Who Christmas Special The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe, where she aided Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor in rescuing her brother from a dangerous alien world. Now working as a nurse for Winston Churchill (Ian McNeice) in his twilight years, Lily will find herself helping to overcome an alien incursion in The Chartwell Metamorphosis, the climatic story in the Doctor Who: The Churchill Years box-set."

That’s all for this Monday morning! Now get back to work and we’ll see you again tomorrow!
