Ellie Kendrick (Meera Reed) and other Game of Thrones stars offer fans a chance to visit the set

We’ve written a couple of times about a promotion being put together by RED, an awareness-raising organization developed by U2’s Bono. RED is offering, among other things, a chance to visit the Game of Thrones set in Belfast during filming for Season 7. The more you donate, the more chances you have to win the trip. All proceeds go to The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

There are still 10 days left to enter, and several Game of Thrones stars banded together to ask for donations.

The video is fun, particularly when the actors make references to their characters (Liam “Davos Seaworth” Cunningham can help you smuggle in wine, Conleth (Varys) Hill will know if you whisper spoilers to anyone, etc). I also like when the editor bleeps out a stream of spoilers being spouted by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, which makes it sound like he’s swearing furiously.

Perhaps more interesting, though, is who’s in the lineup. For example, we’ve heard nothing from Ellie Kendrick, who plays Meera Reed, during this past off-season, but if she’s dropping vague hints about “where we went for an entire season,” odds are that she went somewhere worth talking about.

Now, granted: we already know that Bran Stark is returning in Season 6, so it’s not a stretch to to guess that Meera Reed will be back as well. Still, it’s good to have some behind-the-scenes corroboration. Kendrick’s quip about what she’s been up to (“Hint: it was pretty magical.”) is also worth noting. We know that Bran will be learning to use his latent greenseeing abilities in Season 6, which definitely qualifies as “magical.”

Also, Jessica Henwick (Nymeria Sand) shows up, so it looks like we’ll be seeing the Sand Snakes again, like it or not.

Finally, Finn Jones (Loras Tyrell) has short hair in the video. Last we saw Loras during his trial for buggery, he was sporting some flowing locks. What does this mean? Possibly that Jones decided to cut his hair after filming was over, secure in the knowledge that he would grow it back by the time filming for Season 7 began, but also maybe that Loras will have his head forcibly shaved while in prison, or worse…

Fun as it is to analyze what this video may portend, the main takeaway here is that RED is raising money for a good cause, and if a lucky couple of fans get a trip to Belfast out of it, all the better.
