Video: Go behind the scenes of “Dragonstone” with HBO’s Inside the Episode featurettes
HBO has uploaded the behind-the-scenes videos that aired at the end of “Dragonstone” — last night’s new episode of Game of Thrones season 7 — to its YouTube channel. After each episode, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss discuss some of the most important scenes and tell us about the thought process behind them.
They start by addressing the most satisfying mass murder in the history of everything: Arya Stark’s massacre of the remaining Freys. They also give their thoughts on scenes as diverse as the Hound’s awakening morality, the personal and political dynamics forming at Winterfell, Cersei’s denial problem, and Daenerys arriving home. Have a watch.
Next, Pilou Asbæk, Nikoalj Coster-Waldau and Lena Headey explore the scene where
Captain Jack Sparrow
Euron Greyjoy shows up to propose to Cersei and sling mud at the Kingslayer, all while wearing rocker gear, heavy guyliner, and a perpetual smirk.
Get Bronn in there and let him and Euron compete to see who can zing Jaime Lannister the hardest. I’ll wait.
Finally, Emilia Clarke opens a discussion about Daenerys arriving in Westeros with a rousing rendition of “I’m On A Boat,” Nathalie Emmanuel and Peter Dinklage on backup vocals.
No matter what happens to Dany this year, at least we won’t have to spend another season yelling at the television for her to get on a ship and leave Essos forever. Also, what could Dinklage mean when he talks about the relationship between Dany and Tyrion encountering “complications?”

And there you have it, folks. In the instantly immortal words of Arya Stark, “Winter came” on Sunday night, and I don’t think any of us will ever be the same. And by the time we’re done processing, it’ll be time to watch the second episode of the season: “Stormborn,” which airs on July 23.
