Video: Cast members discuss Game of Thrones at the San Diego Comic-Con
By Dan Selcke
For the first time ever, a season of Game of Thrones is airing during the San Diego Comic-Con, where the Game of Thrones panel is always a big draw. This year was no exception, as cast members Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos Seaworth), Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark), Conleth Hill (Varys) and Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) took the stage to discuss the show.
The whole thing was moderated by Kristian Nairn (Hodor). Check it out below!
So the panel was pretty light — no one dropped any huge spoilers — but it’s a very fun watch.
Also, here’s the bit at the end where the Night King threatened to kill everyone and bring them back as zombies. Fun way to end!
And for those who can’t or don’t want to watch video, the official Game of Thrones Twitter account live-tweeted much of it:
Aw.
Also, Alfie Allen brought his dog onto the panel with him.
It’s name is Abby. Again I say aw.
Moving away from romance, Emmanuel also weighed in on the prospect of being Hand of the Queen for Daenerys Targaryen.
Moving onto Sophie Turner, Nairn asked her if Littlefinger is manipulating her.
And who which character would Turner bring back to life if she could?
To each their own.
How does Davos feel about Melisandre after he found out about her role in Shireen’s death?
That sounds very high-minded, but he also said that if Davos saw Melisandre again, he would fire a glock at her.
John Bradley discussed Sam’s frustration over the roadblocks the maesters are putting up that prevent him from getting the knowledge he needs to help Jon and fight the White Walkers, which is very much his focus.
Gwendoline Christie talked very eloquently about Brienne discovering her own strength by protecting first Catelyn and then her daughters.
At one point, Nairn asked the cast members what law they would pass if they sat the Iron Throne. Some of their responses:
Finally, Cunningham gave his opinion on how this whole thing should wrap up.
If only.

There are other interviews out there, too. For example, Sophie Turner expanded on the simmering tension between Sansa and Jon on the panel when she talked to Entertainment Weekly. “I think the sibling rivalry stems from childhood,” Turner said.
"The reality is Jon is the military man, and the sexism exists where he believes that [a man should be in charge]. And in reality, Sansa is a really wonderful politician, and he doesn’t recognize it enough to appreciate it. It’s difficult because military-wise, she doesn’t know anything. And she’s kind of butting in on that respect. And he, on the other end, is trying to be more of a politician, and he doesn’t know as much as she does. If they could just learn to collaborate."
EW also talked to Gwendoline Christie about Brienne’s development. To hear Christie tell it, Brienne may start to think more for herself in the future. “What I think we’ll see throughout the season is actually Brienne starting to question what received authority is and take on more of an independent decision-making process,” she said.
"I think we’ve seen Brienne being an incredibly honorable character, but one who has operated from a received sense of what honor is. And now in the world, it’s not at all as she expected, and no one’s clear as to whether they’re good or evil. And that gray area means that there’s an increased decision-making process that happens moment to moment."
Something tells us Brienne will make the right decision, come hell or high water.
