Video: HBO takes us behind Jon Snow’s big moment with Drogon

HBO has continued to release new episodes in its The Game Revealed series each week, diving into the specifics behind each episode of Game of Thrones season 7. This week, it’s released the behind-the-scenes goods on “Eastwatch,” the fifth episode of the season.

In “Eastwatch,” Dany burned the leaders of the Tarly family, Arya stalked Littlefinger, Tyrion reunited with Jaime, and more. The full episode of The Game Revealed is available on HBO Now, HBO’s over-the-top streaming service. The network has released a clip on its YouTube page. Below, check out Kit Harington, showrunners Dan Weiss, and director Matt Shakman give their thoughts on the moment where Jon Snow has a close encounter with Drogon the dragon.

So Dany was “85% sure” Drogon wouldn’t eat Jon. I guess she thought it was worth the risk. It’s also good to know that the bit where Jon passed out of Dany’s sight was purposeful; this truly was a private moment between dragon and secret relative. When Dany inevitably learns that Jon is her nephew, I figure she’ll look back and this moment and be all, “Ooooohhh.” Ditto Jon, actually.
