HBO releases the Game of Thrones season 7 DVD/Blu-ray home boxset tomorrow. The set is replete with special features and commentaries. To build hype, HBO has been doling select

As usual, the season 7 Blu-ray will contain a number of History and Lore features, mini-documentaries that dive into bits of the show’s mythology. Check out one from Watchers on the Wall below, narrated by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister). This feature is all about the Rains of Castamere, the Lannister theme song, and the grim story behind it.

I know it won’t happen, but the story of young Tywin Lannister would make a great prequel.

Elsewhere, Westeros.org hosted a History and Lore feature about the Dragonpit, the King’s Landing edifice where Teams Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, and Cersei Lannister met in the season 7 finale. This one is narrated by Conleth Hill (Varys) and Anton Lesser (Qyburn).

There are shorter snippets of History and Lore features floating around, too, like this bit from a feature on Prophecies of the Known World. This particular bit is about Maggy the Frog, the woods witch who predicted Cersei’s death back in “The Wars to Come,” and is narrated by John Bradley (Samwell Tarly).

Here are the rest of the History and Lore features you’ll find on the season 7 Blu-ray boxset (the History and Lore features won’t be on the DVD release):

  • The Citadel: 2:32
  • Casterly Rock: 1:20
  • Highgarden: 3:24
  • The Golden Company: 2:55
  • The Hand of the King: 4:01

Meanwhile, USA Today has a behind-the-scenes clip giving fans insight into how the art department made the dragon skulls that populated the area beneath the Red Keep where Tyrion and Jaime met in “Eastwatch”:

PEOPLE has a clip all about the Loot Train Attack, featuring interviews with the likes of Emilia Clarke (Daenerys), director Matt Shakman, and more:

Finally, The Verge has a clip about the planning behind the fight at the frozen lake in “Beyond the Wall.” It’s not embeddable, but you can watch it here.

Here are the other special features you’ll be able to enjoy on the

  • Audio Commentaries. As always, there will be audio commentaries on every episode. There are 11 this time around, spread between the seven episodes.
  • From Imagination to Reality: Inside the Art Department-Extensive. This two-part featurette revolves around production designer Deborah Riley and her art department. How did they go about creating the sets for Casterly rock, Highgarden, the Dragonpit, Dragonstone 2.0, and more?
  • Fire & Steel: Creating the Invasion of Westeros. The cast and crew sound off about the biggest moments of the season in interviews.
  • Conquest & Rebellion: An Animated History of the Seven Kingdoms. Written by Game of Thrones staff writer and loremaster Dave Hill, this series will focus on Aegon Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros some 300-odd years before the events of the series. Narrators include Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyjoy), Conleth Hill (Varys), Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), and Harry Lloyd (Viserys Targaryen). Here’s a clip from that:

Again, the set comes out tomorrow, just in time for the holidays!
