The seventh season of Game of Thrones is nominated for 22 Emmy Awards, more than any other show in contention this year. “The Dragon and the Wolf,” the season 7 finale, is up for an Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series statue, alongside episodes of The AmericansThe CrownThe Handmaid’s Tale, Killing Eve and Stranger Things. HBO had to submit the script for “The Dragon and the Wolf” for consideration, and it’s now on the net for you to read.

“The Dragon and the Wolf” pops up in several categories. Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage are both nominated for their performance in the episode (in the Outstanding Supporting Actress and Outstanding Supporting Actor categories respectively). It’s also up for awards in directing, editing, makeup and music composition.

You can also read the scripts for earlier episodes submitted for Emmy consideration, including season 4’s “The Children,” season 5’s “Mother’s Mercy” and season 6’s ”Battle of the Bastards.” Like all of those, “The Dragon and the Wolf” was written by show creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss, who write heavy dialogue with the best of them but have a light touch with stage direction…or whatever you call it when you’re writing for TV:

If that won’t help Iain Glen get into character, nothing will. We’ll have a post highlighting all the differences between the script and the final episode soon, from minor dialogue changes to scenes that ended up on the cutting room floor. Have a look and see what you can find!
