New point-of-view characters we want in the final Song of Ice and Fire novels

10) Missandei

By and large, Daenerys Targaryen’s story has been told through the eyes of Daenerys Targaryen alone. We haven’t seen her through the eyes of many other POV characters, although that started to change in A Dance with Dragons and will probably continue. Still, there are few characters closer to Dany than Missandei, her faithful handmaiden. She could be the ideal character to watch Dany from the outside once the Mother of Dragons returns to her entourage in Meereen, which I assume is going to happen rather sooner than later.

Few characters have known Daenerys for as long as Missandei, and arguably even fewer know her as well. The development of Dany’s character will be crucial in the final books, and nobody is better suited to give us a third person perspective. Will she become a mad queen? Will she ultimately become the savior of Westeros and the wider world of Ice and Fire? Will she be both? With Missandei, we could have a front row seat to this journey, free from the bias we would get if we heard the entire tale from Dany alone.

Missandei as a POV character only works, mind you, if she isn’t hiding a secret we’re not supposed to know. She could, for example, be the Harpy, unlikely as that seems. Otherwise, it could be fun to have her perspective in the mix.
