Inside the Episode: Go behind the scenes of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”

The Game of Thrones showrunners break down some of the most crucial moments of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” in this week’s Inside the Episode featurette, including an exploration of (IMO) the best moment of the episode: Jaime knighting Brienne. So many feels. Who knows if we’ll get intense character moments like that now that the war is here?

But I’m already getting sidetracked. Presenting, Inside the Episode:

According to D.B. Weiss, it’s hard to know how everyone feels about Jaime showing up at Winterfell. Of course, we were most curious as to how Bran would react. To be honest, I thought he would be more involved in Jaime’s…trial? Hearing? Tribunal?

I liked what Weiss had to say about Brienne speaking up for Jaime at his trial, that she’s in love but doesn’t know how to process it, because that’s never been a part of her life. And the fact that Jaime is being a sweetheart to her isn’t helping matters.

And then there’s the knighting moment. The producers explain it as Brienne finally getting validation from multiple sources, something else that hasn’t really been a part of her life.

Benioff and Weiss both point out that this episode is about everyone’s last night of calm before the storm. Who knows what the next hour will bring, so if anyone had any plans to do anything, now’s the time, whether that’s Arya having sex for the first time or drinking and singing with strangers and friends.

Daniel Portman did a phenomenal job singing “Jenny’s Song,” a nod I’m sure made book fans extremely happy. As Benioff points out, Martin only gives us one line of this song in A Storm of Swords. Benioff, Weiss and Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi do the rest.
