Knee-Jerk Reactions to “The Iron Throne:” Five Best and Worst Moments
BONUS VALYRIAN STEEL MOMENT: Dany sprouts dragon wings.
Dany is the Queen of Dragons and we can’t blame the director for designing this foregrounded shot at least once, where she appears to be sprouting wings at her Nuremberg-style military rally. Thrones was never more a fantasy story than it was in those few seconds.
Wrap it up and put a Bloody Bow on it: “The Iron Throne” was the final series episode and it sure felt like it. The showrunners took time to complete every storyline, even if it was little more than a wink and a nod, and we all got to see what happened to our characters. Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion got a lot of screen time and wow, he sparkled in every second of it.
For the first time, there won’t be a next week. Winter has come and gone. I can’t believe Game of Thrones is over. But, “Luke, there is another … Skywalker … oops … I mean … HBO Thrones universe series.”
Do we dare dream it might be magnificent, too?
