Number Two, a.k.a Diego, The Kraken

David Casta brilliantly brings the dark, edgy, knife-throwing bad boy Diego to life. He’s the only one still fighting crime in season 1, while his siblings have mostly chosen to follow other opportunities. He’s a Batman-Daredevil type, but more annoying, a nightcrawler vigilante who aggravates the authorities with his ridiculous outfit and lack of appreciation for police procedure. He hates his father and is very hostile towards his siblings, but as the first season progresses, he begins to warm up to everyone, especially after the loss of his friend Detective Patch and his robot mother.

Diego’s biggest problem is his inability to work with a team. He’s a lone wolf who prefers his own company, and he doesn’t like being slowed down by others. His power lets him direct the path of anything he throws, usually knives. Diego has a huge problem with authority and doesn’t always realize that his actions have consequences that can affect others. Several people he loved died because of this. In the end, he got over his ego, just like his stuttering problem, and learned to work together with his family.

Number Two will have some demons to deal with in season 2. The deaths of his robot mom and Detective Patch will undoubtedly weigh heavily on him. But he did see a significant moment of growth when he chose not to get revenge by killing the assassin Cha Cha, realizing that’s not what Patch would have wanted.

THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY EMMY RAVER-LAMPMAN as ALLISON HARGREEVES in THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY Cr. CHRISTOS KALOHORIDIS/NETFLIX © 2020

Number Three, a.k.a. Allison, The Rumor

Hamilton’s Emmy Raver-Lampman plays Number Three, a.k.a. Allison, who was doing pretty well when season 1 began. She was a famous actress, loving wife and mother. She seemed like she had a perfect life, but it was all a lie. Her marriage ended with her husband getting custody of their daughter, and when her father dies and put back in the line of fire, her world unravels fast, and she realizes she must be very careful how she uses her powerful gift.

Allison has the ability to turn lies into reality. If she whispers that she “heard a rumor,” that person will do whatever she says. Reginald Hargreeves used Allison’s power to keep her sister Vanya, who has massive powers, from destroying the world, but we’ll get to her later.

Last we saw Allison, her throat was stitched up and she was unable to speak, thanks to Vanya slashing her neck in a fit of passion. Now she’s in the past, most likely missing her daughter dearly. She and Luther have some residual romantic attachments they need to work out, and she and Vanya have some serious talking to do.
