4. Malak/Darth Malak

A member of the Jedi Order and close friend of Jedi Knight Revan, Malak was introduced alongside his buddy in Star Wars: The Knights of Old Republic. Like Revan, Malak also defied the Jedi Order and fought in the war against Mandalore The Great and his Mandalorian army.

However, what’s most important isn’t the role Malak played int he war; it’s what happened after. Following the fall of Mandalore The Great, many warriors returned home, but others fled into unknown regions of space. Malak and Revan pursued them, and when they returned, they weren’t the same Jedi Knights who first set out to save the galaxy.

For Malak had become…Darth Malak. During his journey, he encountered an ancient Sith Emperor and was convinced to join the Dark Side of the Force. He was given a mission to find the Star Forge, a weapon that could end the Jedi Order for good. After finding it, Malak began a new war against the Republic that would come to be known as the Jedi Civil War.

Eventually, Malak betrays his Sith Master (who is different than the Sith Emperor who turned him tot he Dark Side) and proclaimed himself the new Dark Lord. He’s finally defeated at the hands of his former friend Revan.

Malak’s story is long and complicated, with lots of twists and turns that have long captured the attention of Star Wars fans. This is a story that many fans would love to see play out onscreen, and Malak isn’t even the most important character in this drama:
