Dune star Stellan Skarsgård opens up about the lengths he went to to transform into Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, while Warner Bros. drops trailer teasers.

Tomorrow, we’re finally getting a full trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune, Frank Herbert’s 1965 sci-fi classic. Today, Warner Bros. is dropping teasers left and right:

That’s Timothée Chalamet as protagonist Paul Atreides, and Zendaya as the Fremen woman Chani, a native of the desert planet of Dune. “I met Timothée Chalamet at my chemistry-read [for Dune],” Zendaya told Empire. “I felt like we’d known each other forever, like he was my homie growing up. We became really great friends. He’s very talented.”

We also got a glimpse of Josh Brolin as Atreides family advisor Gurney Halleck…

…Chang Chen as Doctor Wellington Yueh…

…and Jason Momoa as Paul’s swordmaster Duncan Idaho:

The cast also includes the likes of Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Charlotte Rampling and Dave Bautista. This thing is stacked.

Then there’s veteran Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, who plays Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. The baron is one of the chief villains of the story, and was previously played by Kenneth McMillan in David Lynch’s 1984 silver screen adaptation:

As you could, it takes some doing to transform into this character. Speaking to Yahoo Movies UK, the 69-year-old explained:  “[He’s] mainly extremely big. I have so much prosthetics on. I spent seven hours a day in make-up for Dune.” Indeed, the Baron is so corpulent that he requires  anti-gravity devices known as suspensors to help him move around. He’s also a tactical genius and one of the most malevolent people in the galaxy.

“Working with Denis Villeneuve was fantastic,” Skarsgård continued. “Being on his set is a great experience because everybody is nice, nobody is shouting and nobody is scared. It’s really wonderful, and then he’s such a great filmmaker, such a visual filmmaker.”

"The sets were incredible and the way he shot was beautiful. And also the way he not only thinks but feels when he’s watching. He’s working with all of his senses when he shoots."

In a previous interview with Vanity Fair, Villeneuve — the guy behind seminal works like Sicario and Arrival — gave his own take on the Baron, admitting he found him to be “flirting very often with caricature” in the books. He claimed Skarsgård’s interpretation would have “a bit more dimension.”

Dune comes out in theaters on December 18.
