7 times Outlander deserved an Emmy but didn’t get one

Outlander for Outstanding Drama Series
Sing me a song…of a show that has never won an Emmy and should have a very long time ago. While we’ve been discussing the cast members that has gone unrecognized, let’s not forget the show itself. Never has Outlander ever been on the Emmy voters’ radar for the category of Outstanding Drama Series.
Granted, there is always a ton of competition in this category, but Outlander definitely matches up to many of the shows that have gotten recognized in the past. Honestly, it should have taken the place of Game of Thrones season 8. We won’t get into why because that’s another can of worms, but basically, Outlander gets screwed over every time.
As an Outlander fan, I naturally love every season, but some stand out more than others. In my opinion, season 5 was one of the show’s strongest yet. All across the board, the writing, directing, acting, etc. were absolutely amazing. The story focused on the looming American Revolutionary War while the Frasers tried to settle down in the community they created together, Fraser’s Ridge.
There is strong character development here, and we really get to see what life is like for this family. It just felt like the show really put down roots in season 5, and we just saw some phenomenal work all around.
Special shout-out to season 5, Episode 8, “Famous Last Words,” which had parts done as a black-and-white silent film. Richard Rankin, who plays Roger MacKenzie on the show, did such an incredible job. The fifth season had some of his best work yet.
It pains me to know that the Emmys completely overlooked this season. If this was Game of Thrones, they’d be Cersei, and we’d be chanting “Shame, Shame, Shame.” Come on guys, what are you doing? These guys brought their all, and no love was shown.
