Graham McTavish for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series

Last but certainly not least we’ve got Graham McTavish, aka Dougal Mackenzie. McTavish was only on the series for two seasons, but he left his mark.

McTavish had a riveting, frightening allure, which was all the pronounced early in the series when we were getting acquainted with the characters. He exuded Dougal’s authority and it was always a joy to watch him on the screen.

Of course, McTavish came and left the series without ever being acknowledged by the Emmys. Did they not watch him in season 2’s “Dragonfly in Amber” or season 1’s “The Wedding”?! He did such a great job in both of these episodes. His character is literally the reason Jamie and Claire fell in love.

I think what made McTavish’s time on Outlander more special is the chemistry he shares with Sam Heughan. These two are the best of friends (they have a book, brand of whiskey, and a Starz series together); even though Jamie and Dougal often butt heads on the show, these two men are the opposite in real life.

Emmys, you missed out on giving this guy recognition! Heck, you missed out on this series as a whole, and that’s about all I can say about that.
