Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) has put the world of Game of Thrones — dragons, white walkers, and sibling rivalry — behind him…but he still can’t say no to a doublet. We now have the first images of him as the title character in Cyrano, a new musical based on Edmond Rostand’s 1897 play Cyrano de Bergerac.

For those of you who don’t know this story, Cyrano de Bergerac is a tale of unrequited love. Cyrano de Bergerac is an intelligent wordsmith who’s too shy actually pursue the woman of his dreams, Roxanne, so he helps another woo her by planting his beautiful words in his mouth. Before making the movie, Dinklage played the role in the Off-Broadway play Cyrano, written by his wife Erica Schmidt. He referred to Cyrano as “quite a personality and a wordsmith” and said he “relies on his wit to get through life, and it sort of gets the better of him.” Sound familiar to any Game of Thrones fans?

Reviews for the film have been trickling in after the 48th Telluride Film Festival, where it had its world premiere. Impressions are mixed, but everyone agrees that Peter Dinklage kills it at Cyrano. Variety went as far as to say that, “Hollywood may have been slow to recognize it, but Dinklage truly merits leading-man status…”

Um, duh, we’ve known this all along!

Cyrano is set to release in theaters on December 31, 2021.

Game of Thrones veteran Pilou Asbæk plays Stephen King villain

Moving on to other Game of Thrones celebrity news, Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyjoy), is taking his talents back to TV, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Asbæk was just cast in the latest adaptation of Stephen King’s work Salem’s Lot. He will be playing the role of Richard Straker, vampire Kurt Barlow’s business partner.

The plot will follow writer Ben Mears, who comes to the town of Jerusalem’s Lot to find inspiration for his next project. However, he soon discovers that the townspeople are being attacked by a blood-sucking creature. You know, typical Stephen King stuff. I’m here for it!

Finally, our girl Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) is looking fierce as ever with her top-notch fashion. And we just had to share, because, well, it’s Maisie Williams.

Until next time.
