Harry Potter fans, come on down! The Harry Potter game show that’s been in the works officially has a release date. WarnerMedia also revealed an exciting first look at the special four-part event.

The game show, called Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Housesis set to premiere on Sunday, November 28. It will be hosted by the legendary Helen Mirren, and it pits the contestants in each respective Hogwarts house (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff) against the others to compete for the House Cup Champion grand prize.

As WarnerMedia revealed, the series will air simultaneously on Cartoon Network and TBS. And episodes will air weekly through December 19. If you’re looking to catch the series on HBO Max, you’ll have to wait until early 2022 — but at least all episodes should be streaming once the series drops on the platform.

The first-look clip is only 20 seconds long, but it’s promising. The set looks like it’s straight from Hogwarts, and each person in the audience gets to rep their Hogwarts house in dedicated sections. This looks like the ultimate quiz show for Harry Potter fans, and it should be a spectacular event for Potterheads everywhere.

Harry Potter 20th anniversary

Warner Bros. is mounting this game show to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone movie. Yes, it debuted way back in 2001.

A reunion with the cast would have been nice. But thanks to social media — not the mention the stars’ burgeoning careers — we haven’t completely lost touch. Daniel Radcliffe has appeared in multiple projects in the years since playing Harry Potter, from movies to TV series to latenight talk show appearances. Emma Watson (Hermoine) has also stayed in the spotlight, and made a big splash outside of Harry Potter when she starred as Belle in Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. Rupert Grint (Ron) has also continued to work, recently appearing in the Apple TV+ series Servant.

Elsewhere on social media, you can follow stars like Matthew Lewis (Neville) and Tom Felton (Malfoy), who recently found out something shocking about his Harry Potter identity. And so, while a reunion would be nice, a new game show should be something to keep Harry Potter fans immersed in the fandom while also celebrating this 20-year milestone.
