Resident Alien season 2 — SyFy — January 26
SyFy has a whole bevy of new programming on the block for 2022, including a second season of Resident Alien, the show where Alan Tudyk plays an extraterrestrial who comes to our planet to pave the way for his species to wipe everyone out and take over. But naturally, he finds himself getting attached to people here on Earth, although as the trailer above indicates, he definitely still has some “kill all humans” tendencies.
Alan Tudyk is one of those actors who: 1) Literally never says no to a job offer, and; 2) Improves everything he’s in, from Firefly to I, Robot to Tucker and Dale vs Evil. He’s definitely good enough to carry his own show. Will Resident Alien finally turn him into the superstar he deserves to be? For his sake, I hope so.
Astrid & Lilly Save the World — SyFy — January 26
Astrid & Lilly Save the World is a brand new supernatural comedy coming to SyFy about a pair of high school misfits who accidentally open a portal to the underworld and then get saddled with the responsibility of closing it before demons destroy all life on Earth. As it goes. These SyFy shows sure do have high stakes for such fun silly comedies, huh?
It’s cool to see original concepts on TV that aren’t at all tied to any existing IP. Astrid & Lilly looks worth checking out. Both it and the second season of Resident Alien premiere on SyFy on January 26. — Dan
