Will HBO announce a Jon Snow show at the Game Of Thrones Official Fan Convention?

Today marks the first day of the Official Game of Thrones Fan Convention in Los Angeles, a celebration of all things Westeros. Celebrity guests include Kristian Nairn (Hodor), Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), Jack Gleeson (Joffrey Baratheon), Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane), Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne), Paddy Considine (Viserys Targaryen), Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon), Matthew Needham (Larys Strong) and Tom Glynn-Carney (Aegon II Targaryen). There will also be a video appearance by House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal, who will hopefully update us as to the status of season 2 of HBO’s Game of Thrones spinoff show.

And there’s one more guest of honor: Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow on the original show. Perhaps in honor of his appearance, HBO posted this video all about Jon Snow’s journey, tracing his story from his days as a lowly bastard living at Ned Stark’s Winterfell to his final trip beyond the Wall at the very end of the series:

Or perhaps they’re posting this for another reason? Might HBO take the occasion of the Game of Thrones Official Fan Convention to announce that a Jon Snow spinoff show is on the way?

Will Kit Harington reveal his Jon Snow show at the Official Game of Thrones Fan Convention?

Towards the end of Game of Thrones, HBO started exploring the possibility of creating a spinoff…or spinoffs. That came to pass with first season of House of the Dragon, which was a hit when it aired earlier this year. Bolstered by this success, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw another spinoff get the green light.

HBO has been looking at several possibilities, including a show based on George R.R. Martin’s The Tales of Dunk and Egg, a show about Nymeria of the Rhoynar, an animated show about Yi Ti, and more. One of the most intriguing is a series that would explore what happens to Jon Snow after the end of Game of Thrones. That one was pitched by Kit Harington himself.

So far as we know, HBO has not greenlit this Jon Snow series yet, but there’s been lots of buzz about it, with various Game of Thrones cast members weighing in on whether they would reprise their roles. Now that House of the Dragon has boosted HBO’s confidence, might they take the plunge and order this one to series, and might they announce it at the convention?

The short answer is that we don’t know, but we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on the Game of Thrones Official Fan Convention for any developments. The convention runs through this Sunday.
