In addition to several new pieces of footage of Daenerys and her khalasar in the Red Waste, the video features interviews with Emilia Clarke, Roxanne McKee and Iain Glen.
UPDATE: Two more videos have been released, featuring Jon Snow and Joffrey Baratheon.
ANOTHER UPDATE: A video for Renly has been uploaded as well!

Great stuff though.
Emilia does the stronger version of Dany quite well! First the promo and now this… She should be a lot of fun this season!
Let’s hope more of these chracter profiles make their way online or on HBO soon!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I absolutely love it.
Is it Rakharo the bloodrider y the center background at 0:34? And could it be him that dies (we now the actor is no longer involved, didn’t we?) so Dany has to comfort Irri at 0:49?
CaedesQuote Reply
Darn that was awesome!
Actually i thought they would really minimize the events of the Red Waste and focus more on Qarth, but well – there we go and I like it.
But i can’t make out who that woman is Dany holds in her arms.
Is it Doreah or some other handmaid?
Or just some random Dothraki woman who dies of heat and thirst?

Mmm, Ser Jorah, I like your tie.
MachaQuote Reply
Michaelmann,
It’s not Doreah- we’ve seen her in Qarth in other videos and her interview in this video has Qarth as the backdrop set. I can’t really tell who it is, but the woman isn’t dead in the video- she’s crying. Dany is comforting her. It could be Irri but I just can’t tell.

That’s an amazing video, the Red Waste looks splendid, specially that scene when we see the khalasar and Dany very very tiny, through “the eyes of a bird”. And the music is also fit, makes me think that she is going to have quite a hard and “lonely” trip.

Oh my, this is so awesome. The red waste looks absolutely gorgeous and foreign, yet so believable. Is this CGI?? Or this based on an actual location? It looks so good! And my hopes are that we will learn of Rakharro’s fate, since they included him in that shot of Dany with her dragons. I’m worried about not seeing Irri. I thought she was a great character in season 1 and was hoping to see more of her in season 2.
PS: Emilia and the actress playing Doreah look beautiful. Emilia has some lovely gowns this season, in addition to her cool Dothraki outfit. And Jorah looks handsome as ever.
DreamlifeQuote Reply
The sheer scope of the location scenery this season is magnificent. All the wide spanning shots look gorgeously cinematic whether it is the North, King’s Landing or the Red Waste. Wonderful production values!!
I’m not sure I agree with Emelia’s assessment of Dany’s character, but that’s a conversation for a different thread. :)

It really looks like Rakharo at :38-42, over Jorah’s left shoulder. No Irri in sight, but I’d be disappointed if she is not in it – Irri and Rakharo provided much-needed light heartedness to the Essos stuff last season.
@:48 I’m pretty sure that’s Roxanne crying, not Irri as previously thought? Well, the husband will be pleased with the apparent increase in her role. ;) Though wouldn’t it be interesting if they are building up Roxanne in the interviews as if she’s going to be important but then they go ahead and kill Doreah anyway? haha…
userjQuote Reply
It’s definitely not Roxanne/Doreah. I’m more sure it’s Irri, the more I look at it.
http://i43.tinypic.com/dp96h4.jpg
I agree that it looks like Rakharo in the background between Dany and Jorah’s heads, though it’s also unclear. Since Dany sends a bloodrider off to Vaes Tolorro, maybe it’s Rakharo they send off in order to free up Elyes Gabel the other films he was making?
http://i39.tinypic.com/f2na1i.jpg
Ours is the FuryQuote Reply
she’s lacking in a lot of other shots and it ‘somehow’ seems to me she’s dying, she’s also being supported as if she can’t stand up herself in the shot with the dead horse. Then again, could also be a totally different character because it really isn’t clear it’s Irri.
KnurkQuote Reply
Ah… as usual Emelia really gets her character, love it. The fact that Dany believes she can only trust herself and that she is truly alone – this is one of her great weaknesses but one of her great strengths also. If you trust no one… you can’t be betrayed, but you can’t survive being responsable for everyone else either, you will break eventually. Also a huge key to Dany’s character is that she feels destiny-driven, she might rather not seize her destiny because it is so difficult – she’d rather be just a young girl, but how can one ignore a sign like the birth of the first three dragons?
BTW that shot of her feeing Drogon => BACKGROUNDED!
Great to hear Iain finally! I’d love to hear his thoughts about his own character as well – though I suppose they will want to keep some of that under wraps so it’s a surprise.
The amount of footage we are seeing of the Red Waste makes me think they might do two episodes, even though only a single chapter takes place there. End the first with some Jorah feelings revelation, end the second at the gates of Qarth.

I still remember, that some people complained about the “useless girl armor” on Dany’s left shoulder. Some other poeople suggested back then, that this peace of armor could be there to help place the CGI-dragons there. In the featurette, the dragon really sits on this piece of armor.
Could this be some kind of confirmation to the theorie? Or was it already confirmed?
ChrizzyQuote Reply
Haha, yeah that’s the exact shot where the more I look at it, the more it looks like Roxanne! :) Time will tell
*puts on Dany-nerd glasses*
Well, technically, Dany sends three bloodriders from Vaes Tolorro, not to, and all three of them return. I suppose they could just have one not return… but it would seem odd for Dany to take off without one of her bloodriders. But they haven’t really explained how important the bloodriders are in the show, so I suppose it is possible.
userjQuote Reply
I think Irri’s crying because their horses are dying, and it’s freaking her out. The whole group of them is going to have to walk? Scary, for Dothraki.
I think I am really going to enjoy Dany’s journey this year – no more trope’ crap being thrust upon her -being sold into marriage, and the date rape she had to endure with Drogo, no stockholm-syndrome love, and bizarre rituals to prove herself through the Dothraki way – she’s her own woman now, and her story will not require her to be humiliated by a man in order to be a Queen. This will give me a lot less to complain about. (Though I am sure I will still nitpick plenty, as is the right of my House!)
purplejillyQuote Reply
Yeah, Emilia is doing a great job showcasing the fact that Dany is starting to grow up in season 2.
She is starting to act like more and more like the “first Dothraki female leader” with her own blood riders and all. It is going to be an awesome scene when she fakes like she is trading Drogon for some Unsullied, then gives Drogon the command word she has trained him to breath his fire and it melts that slave traders face off… Can not wait!
Or will that happen in season 3?
I will be routing for Dany when she invades Westeros. I just hope she doesn’t end up killing any Starks. Any of the other POV characters I wouldn’t mind her killing so much. But please Martin don’t let her hurt any of the Starks… Heh

I think it’s definitely not the “irri2″-costume, because there’s more cloth around the shoulders, but in the video, no cloth at all can be seen.
Irri’s first costume has strings, that are not as close to the neck as Dorea’s.
So at first I thought, it’s more likely to be Doreah. But in the video, from 0:50 to 0:52, i thought I saw a string of cloth underneath all that hair, and it looked more brown than black to me. This would fit the “irri1″-costume more than Dorea’s.

Well, they said one of the characters that dies in the book survives in the show, and one who doesn’t die in the book dies in the show. I can’t want to see Gleeson handle Joffrey’s wedding/death. He’s a damn good actor.
Pink DragonQuote Reply
I would just like to say that as awful as Joffrey is, Jack Gleeson has acted the hell out of that role. It’d be too easy to make Joff cartoonishly evil rather than the arrogant teenager – with a cruel streak – that he is. For an idea of how bad Joff could have been, one need only look at Hayden Christensen in the Star Wars prequels (though to be fair, Christensen had s–t to work with when it came to the films’ writing. Still, it could have been ugly. I think there was a surprising subtlety to his portrayal of Joff that I felt was one of the real strengths of the first season, and I’m seeing more of it in this profile. Good work, kid. Too bad that owning that role will make people hate the very sight of you for the rest of your life.
Of all the families on the show, the Lannisters might be the most perfectly cast. Nikolaj, Lena, Jack, Charles and of course, Peter have all done a magnificent job. I wonder if Tommen and Myrcella can live up to the rest when they get their screen time.
poguemahoneQuote Reply
Love that shot in the Jon Snow video I’m guessing of Mormont giving him his sword at the camp ground. Nice to see some focus on Joffrey too, poor Jack Gleeson rarely gets press and does such a bang up job with the part! Good to see him featured. I would love to see an Arya feature, but I have a feeling they are keeping her more under wraps – we’ve not seen a peep of Jaqen or Rorge or Biter…
persephone88Quote Reply
I’d really like to get D&D’s/casting lady’s input on this. I can’t get it through my head that they’d hire decent-to-above-average child actors to play those roles — you’ll need them to be good in the later books, after all — only for those kids to sit around for three to four seasons until they actually get to show off their skills. I fear a recast sometimes — not that I want one, because Tom and Myr are cuties. But if you got cute blonde kids that were young enough, I don’t think anyone in the mainstream would notice unless they were looking real close in the background of season one.
Pink DragonQuote Reply
darquemode,

Pink Dragon,
True. I mean, Beric Dondarrion might get a recast and he got more face time in season 1 than Tommen and Myrcella. So, who knows. The show has been so well-cast up to this point that I probably wouldn’t oppose such a move if it’s deemed necessary.
poguemahoneQuote Reply
poguemahone,
I thought I read somewhere that Beric will be re-cast and the Season 1 actor was just a featured extra and not the eventual actor in the role. I wil ltry to find the article.. I thought it was D&D that stated it, but I can’t recall….
Maybe it was just a commenter in the end….. Hmmm…
darquemodeQuote Reply
the goat,
yeah, I heard that Silver was one of those method acting horses. In between takes she refused to socialize with the rest of the cast and crew, kept cussing at everyone in Dothraki and showing up for her scenes drunk on clotted mare’s milk. What a diva.
Mrs. WunQuote Reply
I like that in these videos, the characters repeat some of the lines we’ve heard from season 1. For example, Joffrey says something along the lines of “a king does not ask, he commands.” He said something similar in season 1. And Tyrion says to Shae, “we’ve come to a dangerous place (King’s Landing),” which is exactly what Ned tells Arya in season 1.
I am really happy they included a video for Joffrey. Poor Jack Gleeson must be getting all kinds of angry responses to his portrayal of Joffrey. It speaks to how well he’s doing. I like how you can almost taste how close we are to him getting what he deserves.
Jon video was good, but it seems there were more interviews than actual footage, which is totally understandable, considering how they do need to keep some footage under wraps for the actual series.
If they do an Arya video, I do NOT want to see Jaqen. I want to be surprised!
I would love to see a Sansa video, but I wonder if they are going to stick to one character per location. Maybe Robb Stark will be the next one??
Theon absolutely needs his own character video as well.

I would guess 16 or more this year. If they do 6 per week we could have 18.
So many aesome characters they could do 30 profiles and people (myself included) could still find beloved characters left out! XD

I gotta see it first to believe it. I’d really like her to shine in season 2, but that doesn’t wipe out the fact that she was horrible in season 1 (in my eyes). I must say she has her eyebrow better under control in the trailers, but maybe that sucker will pop up again in all the other scenes.

Liking her in split second glances and 2 second cuts in a trailer is far different than liking her in full scenes over the course of a season. I did not like her last year…. I hope to like her more this year.
I don’t see why I would be eating crow at all honestly. She may win me over during the season, but the trailers have not changed my opinion of Lena as Cersei whatsoever.
Regardless of how I think she is the worst cast of the roles.. she did not ruin or even lower my opinion of the series last year. She has her part, D&D have their vision of Cersei and it jsut did not match up to mine or the books IMO. She was the worst part of the series for me last year (aside from lack of Direwolves), but I hope I can adjust ot her this year since I doubt she will be any better or D&D will change their version of Cersei….
darquemodeQuote Reply
Knurk,
I wasn’t the biggest fan of hers last season either but these most recent trailers have impressed me with what I have seen thus far. She seems more vocal more competent. I think they wanted her muted last season, D and D I mean…and now with Robert dead she can be a bit more Cersei-ish. And that eyebrow is pure Lena, that’s something we just gave to deal with I’m afraid ;-)

Michael HarperQuote Reply
yeah, that stupid whispering all the time was even worse than the eyebrow. Let’s hope they fixed that.
KnurkQuote Reply
Poor Lena…so much to prove. I have a feeling it’s simply a case of miscasting from the beginning and sometimes no matter how much effort and talent…for some it may not be enough. I hope she knocks our socks off but I am an eternal optimist…
I wonder if some of it had to with her unfamiliarity with roles of nobility and her seemingly bohemian demeanor? Beyond Gorgo in 300 Lena’s played mostly blue collar tough girl roles and in personality she ain’t exactly Kate Winslett or Keira Knightley. She needs to channel Polly Walker or Sian Phillips. Maybe that’s what she is doing now. Unless D andD wanted her restrained in season 1 and have her unravel over the seasons…

Knurk,

Good to see both Margaery and Loras in the Renly video. It seems like they have toughened Renly up quite a bit this season, thankfully! But what the heck with Margaery’s dress? That neckline is pretty crazy – right up there with Cersei’s wigs in season 1! Love seeing Margaery and Littlefinger teasing each other out to see what’s what with the Tyrell / Baratheon marriage – both real players! Keep in mind that GoT had amazing TV-ratings on Sky Atlantic HD in the UK..

The Dany and Jon features need no comment; nothing that I can say will be any different from anything I’ve said about those two up until now. Both great characters played by talented actors, and both have an incredible journey ahead of them.
As for Joff, I’m really glad Jack Gleeson got a chance to be himself. I spend so much time hating on Joffrey that I sometimes forget that the actor is just a normal, well-mannered, cute kid. He really is one of the unsung heroes of the show. He does a fantastic job being terrible.
I’m also very excited that Gethin Anthony has seemed to grow into the Renly role we know from the books. In S1, Renly was much less bold/confident than I found him in the books, but it looks like the team has taken Renly to that place of confidence for S2. I also really like the way Gethin has been styled – the hair, costumes, etc. It’s all coming together really nicely.
On one hand, I’m glad we’ll have an onbviously smart, strong female character in Margaery. On the other hand, I’m still concerned about the age difference from the book (which was discussed at length, under much duress, during the Dormer casting thread). I’m also now a bit concerned about the fact that she seems to be so openly conniving. Maybe I haven’t seen enough and Margaery will be more ingenuous around “enemy characters,” or maybe her entire plot will be drastically changed, but I find it hard to believe that Cersei will allow this woman anywhere near her sons.

I like Margaery’s dresses. All the houses look different and since the Lannisters already have the luxurious and proper style I think it’s fitting that the other rich powerhouse is a bit more daring.
Especially the cone dress makes it far from just another rip off off our own medieval times, which the show has done a good job of keeping away from. It’s more important to stand out in that way on the TV show than in the books.
I can see why some people won’t like them though and, as usual, the negatives will be picked out and discussed far more than all the positives.

It’s also a reminder that the various houses aren’t just families the way we think of families, they really have their own cultures in some ways. I think Michelle Clapton did a great job with that in season 1– the clothes in the Vale could never be mistaken for anywhere else, the dorky little hats on all the Freys were appropriate for the shabby conformity of that family, etc. We’ve already seen from Loras’s insane tournament armor that the Tyrells like to wear things that may look bizarre to everyone else but are undeniably expensive as hell; that’s a privilege of celebrity, just look at the dresses at the Oscars.

I think they’ve done a fantastic job with the Men’s costumes and armor. The women, not so much. Nothing I’ve seen as far as women’s fashion in season one or now season two has blown me away. Poor Catelyn, I always think she looks like a pauper. One of the reasons I’m drawn to period pieces is I like to see all the pretty dresses and jewels and stuff. I’m a girly girl in that regard I guess. I loved watching the Tudors and The Borgias (amongst other things) to see the clothes the women were wearing, the fabrics, the patterns, embroidery, jewelry and sparkly stuff. This show as far as woman’s clothing has no pizzazz to me, even the color palettes they are using are very muted.
I mean, Margery is supposed to be very rich…does she look like she has loads of money with those outfits? I kind of thought the same thing when I saw Cersei in season one.
It is what it is, I guess I’m kind of used to it by now though. It’s just a small, personal, disappointment of mine.

Screw it, I’ll spoiler code the whole thing: I always thought the Margaery as a virgin was preposterous, a clear lie that Cersei was just pissed they couldn’t disprove. A notable weakness of Stannis as the heir is that he has no sons and that’s partly why his wife sought Melisandre’s help, because Selyse was praying for sons. Even though Renly’s gay, he would’ve still managed to have sex with his wife if only to work on getting an heir.I think Margaery’s smart enough to know as well how important it is, and certainly her family like Lady Olenna would remind her of that if Margery failed to consider it.

Pay TV has never been successful in Germany, except for sports (especially boxing, soccer and formula 1). Additionally, the German fantasy market is rather detached from those in many anglophone countries, because many foreign novels never find a German publisher or are translated in a stupendously horrible way or simply bust commercially. Martin, for example, has never been that successful in Germany, where may fantasy-readers share a love for generic, tolkienesque and juvenile writers (or hacks) like Heitz.
I very much doubt that Sky will pull in a significant number of new customers with Game of Thrones in Germany. Those who know Martin and the HBO series over here get it on the internet and buy the DVDs and BRs. They are unlikely to purchase an expensive Pay TV channel.

But there’s a big difference between being openly shrewd and being a teenage girl who pretends to be…just a teenage girl. In the books, she’s all about trying to get her enemies to underestimate her. In the show, she looks like she’s coming on full-force with. I’m just interested to see how that changes things. Now, to be fair, that clip only shows her with Renly and Littlefinger, so maybe she’ll put on more innocent airs around the Lannisters.

I have to say, HBO is doing a pretty brilliant job of building unbearable anticipation for Season 2. I want these character promos for EVERYONE, especially the new characters. Probably not going to get them, but I would love to see one for Davos, and especially ones for Brienne and Asha/Yara – finally got a glimpse of the second in the Love trailer the other day, and if they build her character to be as important as it is in the books where the Greyjoys are concerned, we are going to have some pretty strong, ass-kicking female characters on this show. Can’t wait to see her in that scene, and then later when she is no longer “in disguise,” so to speak. I hope that actress really nails it – I know there has been a lot of worry given her unproven track-record.
I don’t think my blu-ray set of season 1 is going to be enough to get me through the next couple of weeks. More promo teasers, please!

Big spoilers underneath for non-book readers.
Hmm I do wonder too if we are going to get a Queen of Thorns. I think that might be why they moved up Littlefinger’s arrival in Renly’s camp, so they could establish a relationship between Margaery and him. It gives her a much bigger dramatic stake in killing Joffrey, if it’s something that she and Baelish cook up together instead of her grandmother. But I always thought one of the most important things about Joffrey being killed on Margaery’s behalf, rather than say directly by Marg, is that it made it easier for her to be shocked. This would be a really big change, and as well that there would be no Olenna for Varys to cast suspicion on for Tyrion’s escape.

Awesome videos!! I loved all of them, the Dany one got me hoping that Irri may well survive (I’m gonna be really sad if she does get cut instead of now-a-brunette Doreah). I don’t like the way Dany says all her bada$$ stuff; she sounds unconvincing and too agressive. I believe her strength would have been conveyed much more efficiently if it were shown in her calm, determined confidence.
This is the first time I ever really felt protective of Sansa. I’ve never disliked her, but seeing him treat her like that … Poor child. I think people never give her the credit for her personal growth and strength.
But it was the Renly vid that really intrigued me. The (by now infamous) cone dress doesn’t bother me the slightest; au contrair, I quite like it. The Tyrells are flamboyant, after all (as it has been pointed out numerous times). That brings me to the dressgate; I, too, imagined outfits in general to be way more colorful, detailed, extravagant. I imagined Cersei wearing soft falling silk dresses, designed to hide little. And I seriously don’t know why they put those impossibly long sleeves on Sansa. But – that said – I’m sure they’re following someone’s vision, and all the armours look great to my eyes. And I wouldn’t say the costumes are trivial or irrelevant; the story takes place in a fictional land and naturally the visual aspects are an important part of what takes you there (along with sets and stuff).
But, yeah, back to videos; I loved the Renly one; it takes us to a great place. I agree with Lina when she voiced her concern about Margaery being too openly conniving. I always thought she was mostly charismatic, acceptable, all in a really sweet way; I thought her cunning was quite concealed. She was enormously popular among courtiers and commoners alike and I’d say her easy manners were her defining characteristic (sure, she’s power-hungry and scheming as well but not as outwardly as Cersei). I really hope Natalie won’t just reprise Anne Boleyn, she has got to be lovable first and foremost (and while Anne was a femme fatale, she wasn’t exactly what you’d call endearing. I don’t picture Margaery as femme fatale at all, maybe rather fille fatale).
The show’s Renly seems to be getting closer to the Renly in my head and I’m extremely pleased with that. He doesn’t have that easy-going, flamboyant charm the book Renly had in my opinion, but I like the direction they have taken him nonetheless.
By the way – has anyone else noticed how Renly (and the rest) seem to be pronouncing Tyrell as – Ti-rEll but both Natalie and Finn say TI-rell?
Edit: Do you think we’re only gonna get Character profiles for characters we already know?

I don’t know how many they aired during promo season last year since I didn’t watch GOT until Peter Dinklage pocketed the Emmy but on the blu-ray’s “Character Profiles” thingie, it was 15 since I just watched all of them in a row for a couple of times since I got the discs.
Yes, there definitely wouldn’t be “too many” profiles. I’m down with everyone getting one! lol
Yes. I thought it was a ridiculous notion too. I mean, especially seeing what these people go through at the wedding banquet eg tearing off the bride’s clothes and sending the newlyweds to a bedroom a la Edmure’s wedding. I’m also pretty sure that Renley’s had sex with women before. Just my notion, but I feel like in this world, even if you’re gay (not just bi, 100% gay) but in Renley’s position, you’d still be dancing with the finer sex, even if it’s just to keep up with appearences.

Skipjack,
I think you have a really good guess there. The only other thing I can think of (plot-wise, anyway) that would warrant a meeting between Littlefinger and Margaery is if the Tyrell-Lannister alliance he brokers is completed through negotiations with her and not Mace.
On an unrelated note, the overly-structured Margaery costume is kind of awful, but I quite like her gown at the tourney. I always imagined Highgarden fashion to be carefree and flowy, but really rich and embellished at the same time. I wish we’d been able to see a wedding dress, but I’ll look for that in future seasons. :)

Concerning Marg, I like her dress okay. But I’m also concerned by how much she’s revealing to LF. It’s weird to see her talk so openly with him… it’s like playing poker with a master (!) gambler but deciding to show him all your cards…

Meg,
Regarding Margaery, I always thought she was very much her grandmother’s playing piece, and learning from the old girl as she went. Lord Tyrell was none too swift, and her mom seemed more like an auspicious marriage but not a player, but grandma….you could tell she was very close to the Queen of Thorns and that Grandma was using Margaery as her best playing piece to work whomever was in charge in King’s Landing. I think in the books, Maergary had a sweet side, but underneath it was Tyrell steel and she was learning to play the game from her grandmother. It would be a terrible shame if they cut the Q of T from the series – her quips to Cersei would not be nearly as funny coming from Margaery!

I like that Renly is a little unsure-sounding in these bits. It may not be quite consistent with the Reny-in-Book-Form, but I think it works well for the Reny-in-HBO-Form that we saw last season. He’s trying to figure it out.
I also think it’s nice to see Renly’s army look more formidable here. I always thought the Renly arc was a little rushed in CoK and he was dead before he really got things going.
Noob Takes the BlackQuote Reply
I don’t see why they would cut the Queen of Thorns. She only has to be there for a few episodes, and as far as we know she is only a book 3 character meaning they can have a contract for 1-2 seasons with the actress. Of course if she turns out to have a large role in WoW, it would be more problematic to introduce her early.

MetalgoddessAMB,
Isn’t it curious how the idea of incest, in real life, is so utterly unbearable (to me, at any rate), and yet in film/literature it is so…intriguing? I mean the relationship between Cersei and Jaime and its far-reaching repercussions is one of the most fascinating things about this series, not to mention the Pharaonic Targaryens. Same goes for other shows depicting incestuous love-affairs, such as Rome (Octavius and his older sister Octavia), and most recently Tom Fontana’s (mostly excellent) Borgia, wherein the prevalent rumour of the carnal nature of the great love between Cesare Borgia and his sister Lucrezia is explored.
Is it because the culprits are invariably so physically attractive as to render the viewing of them in any sexualised situation, even a perverse one, irresistibly stimulating, or does it go deeper than that, deeper perhaps than what any of us would care consider? Naturally, I’ve no way of knowing whether we might see the “very interesting trinity” that is ‘Renlorgaery’ (Gods, that’s a mouthful, isn’t it? No pun intended) in any homo-incestuous menage-a-trois, but I really hope we don’t, because that might be a bit TOO weird, even for me.
P.S: To anyone who might have been offended, or worse, by my comment – I apologise. I’ve a dark little mind, but then I suppose that’s why I like A Song of Ice and Fire so much…

Yes! Another character video :) It’s good to hear from Natalie Dormer. I actually like her dress—it’s strange and a bit avant garde, which I think is appropriate. She is nothing like the Margaery I picture from the books, but I think she might be a bit more interesting. To me, Margaery was very sweet, friendly, loved by all—and did not seem to be scheming. I hope that’s how Natalie plays her. It will be quite strange when both Renly and Joffrey die and she is married to Tommen, lol. Also, I hope they have a good love scene between Renly and Loras. I do not want a threesome between Renly, Loras, and Margaery, though. There’s already plenty of incest in Westeros; no need for anymore (unless Cersei’s crazy assumptions have merit).
As for Renly’s strange delivery of, “when I take King’s Landing,” I think we need to see it in context. There were a couple times during season 1′s previews where I thought line deliveries seemed to lack emotion; in context, they worked very well.
I am so happy to see Brienne in relation to the other character. My goodness, she is so tall and badass in her armor! I look forward to her portrayal and hope we get a fair amount of dialogue from her.
HBO, do Stannis next! I would love to hear from Stannis, Melisandre, and Davos.

remember the Ned-line in one of the first trailers where he said: “I was trained to kill”? Seemed extremely corny, because they cut the sentence in half and we had absolutely zero context. In the end it worked pretty well in the episode itself.

Another really tall guy, Ian Whyte, who’s done mostly stunt work. It’s not clear why Stevens was replaced– he said a few cryptic things that sounded like he had wanted to keep doing it, but it could have been anything from a disagreement with the showrunners to just a schedule conflict. It’s too bad, I liked him, but I guess if the role ever had to be recast it’s better that they did it early on when Gregor had barely had any lines yet.

Stella Maris,
Either Smith or Siann Phillips. I would die if they cast Siann Phillips. But I’ve been singing this tune quite a lot so….
As for Olenna being written out…nah, she’ll just be way older because Margaery is older and I can see her in season 3 showing up for the wedding and proving to be Margaery’s mentor, not to mention she can still plot with Littlefinger to poison Joffrey without Margaery’s knowledge.

I don’t remember anymore where I read this (an interview with D&D?), but somewhere somebody mentioned that HBO didn’t have anything against any of the scenes in the first season, but in some places during the second season they asked, “Are you really going to show this?” To which the showrunners answered, “Why, yes, we are!”
Based on the ending of the Renly trailer I am making a prediction that one of these totally f*cked up scenes will be a sort of a 3some between Renly, Loras and Margaery.
I will now give you some time to wrap your head around this idea :)

Thanks for the info. I looked him up. he is some really tall skinny dude that has played in lots of hollywood movies, I think most notably “The Predator” where he played the predator. He is very tall but has no muscle bulk and in all those movies it looked like his custom contained fake plastic muscles to make him look bigger.
I guess he can be a good Gregor Clegane if they bulk him up with fake muscle like the other movies had done. But it still sucks that big dude with real muscle won’t play him anymore. He probably breached his contract for that tiny role in Spartacus…

I’m not sure I like the direction the series is taking with Renly this season. Gethin Anthony’s portrayal is so serious compared to the character in the books. ASoIAF can be such a grim series at times. A few characters that actually laughs or cracks a joke every now helps to keep the mood from getting too dark.
It’s something I don’t like about the show’s version of Littelfinger either.
