Last night’s episode of The Simpsons had a Game of Thrones-inspired opening sequence, complete with Ramin Djawadi’s rousing theme. Check it out!

Saw this today and nearly fell over. Awesome.
The Simpsons is a measure of making it in mainstream America.

Hilarious. Burns Landing.
Are the Simpsons still running new episodes? I thought the series ended a few years ago.
In other news, an e-mail from Amazon said that I should be getting my GoT Blu-Ray today!
This would mean that I’m getting it a day ahead of its release date.
Is this something Amazon does to make sure an order arrives in time, even if they break an embargo?

Commented on this in the Grey Wind thread, but I’ll say it again:
Love it! Brilliant!
Best bits are Grandpa’s face in the weirwood tree, and the 3 eyed crows. made me lol

I just love the image of Smithers as a wizard. Strangely appropriate.

I was dreading this as I thought it would be as terrible as all Simpsons post Season 10, but it wasn’t all bad.

If you check the opening credits for any recent Simpsons (i.e. from the last couple of years) you’ll see a three-eyed crow fly across the screen. For example:

You might need to hit pause when the bird flies across the screen to see clearly.

holy crap, i think this is a huge bump for GoT (just look at the official intro video from youtube…), and its awesome!

It’s been years since the last time I saw a new episode (the last ones I got to see were so lame I stopped watching the series), but this intro is really well-made.

I think this is the first time I’ve laughed at The Simpsons in nearly 10 years! Brilliant!

Ahhh…THAT. WAS. AWESOME!
Think Smithers “always wanted to be a wizard”? :)
Loved Grandpa as the Heart Tree!

Wow those guys are obviously pretty big fans, they got all the little things right. Great stuff. Was the episode related at all to the credits or just a regular one?

I got my Copy of AdwD weeks early from Amazon.de… but most of the time they ship it just a little bit early so you can get it on the Release date.
Amazon.co.uk mailed me yesterday that they shipped my BD Set… And it looks like its going to arrive on Tuesday… I can live with that. :)

Awesome!!! Well folks we’ve arrived…you know we’ve done something right, when “The Simpsons” use GoT in its openning sequence! Now on to “South Park” and “Family Guy”…Stewie should be Tyrion…and Cartman should be Ros!

Hahaha, I saw this last night and loved it. I grew up watching the Simpsons and I’m sad to say I think it’s really dried up the last five or so years. But the couch sequences are still great, and I’m glad they’re current in pop culture. Burn’s Landing, with Smithers as a wizard! Great! :)

OMG!! Simpsons taking the best show to make an intro. Epic! Simply, EPIC! And it also means, as many said, that Game of Thrones is in the right trail. Many things have proven it, keep up the excellent work HBO!!! :)

To be honest, I thought it was mostly quite tired and forced, though interesting visually. And the wizard bit was somewhat WTF. The three-eyed crows, however, were genius, subtly merging the mythologies of the two shows in a way that would have been mildly amusing to all, but only really understandable to fans of both.

You know what this means??? Folks, we are officially MAINSTREAM! :)))))))))

Freaking hilarious, didn’t see this coming at all.

The DVD was released today (5th) in the UK! Don’t know why the US are a day behind… But mine should arrive tomorrow, yay!

This is, what, the 3rd time Simpsons has made a GOT reference? Even I’m a bit surprised by this. There must be some huge GOT fans on the writing staff.

So, all through watching season 1, I thought that somewhere there really was a scale model of Westeros made out of posterboard and styrofoam and other quality ‘art materials’, with all sorts of awesome metal gears and hidden moving parts. I remember thinking that it was probably about 30 feet long, from Thenn to Dorne. I thought it was a premier example of old-fashioned hand craftsmanship being honored within the realm of digital media.
Then I saw an interview with one of the guys who created the fully digital opening sequence. Yes, it’s still awesome even if it only exists in a computer somewhere….
After seeing the feature about Renly’s armor, I can’t really complain about any lack of hand craftsmanship either.
Knowing that they can make CGI things that can completely fool us is pretty exciting from a technology point of view, but sometimes you can’t help feeling a little stupid when they really manage to trick you.

I love the entire thing. I can’t pick between the flock of three-eyed crows, Homer rising in armor in his hammock, or Grandpa Simpson as the face in the weirwood as my favorite part. Even the ‘heraldic’ animals in the strips near the beginning are terrific. LOLed and woke the cat.

I swear they’ve dressed Marge, Lisa and Maggie in Catelyn, Sansa and Arya’s clothes, respectively. So… does that make Bart Bran? Or Robb?
Rukie44Quote Reply
Judy Bouma,
Priceless ! I reviewed it again to pick up Grandpa’s face in the Weirwood as you noted in your post. Did you notice Maggie and her sister dressed as Arya and Sansa ? LMAO !!

How do you see it? I just see them wearing pseudo-medieval clothing. =/

What was the third one?
The Intro obviously and the one where they show a snapshot of the throne room (with five Iron Thrones) are two.
Do you just mean the three eyed crow they had previously?

If only GoT could return the favor and parody the Simpsons’ opening. I can just see Bran writing “I will not warg into the classroom gerbil” on the blackboard now!
Heck, why not? On their budget they could probably go to Portland, OR and film in the locations Matt Groening had in mind when he invented Springfield.
