HBO has unveiled a series of character posters that they will be using to promote season 3. You should start seeing these at bus stops, on billboards and in print next week.

It’s just their eye coloring. They are the only two with Hazel eyes, so when you mix the yellow-ish brown with blue it looks green.

Not a fan. Way too much photoshop and the colorscheme is pretty used in movie posters. There are multiple pictures in the internet where they criticise those colors that are in lots of movie posters.
Also Jon looks like he is high with something illegal.

These are pretty cool. My first reaction was: ‘Eww, big fail!’ But, remembering my first reaction to the crown poster from last year, I will wait to let these sink in before I totally dismiss them.
I am surprised they went with the HDR look that was super popular two years ago but now is just cheesy photoshop eye candy. I have said this about every s3 poster thus far: It looks like something a first year art school student would design.
I do like the concept of warm colors and cool colors referencing Ice & Fire, but the execution is less than agreeable.

This woman likes them, especially Arya with the “Imma F*@* you UP” look on her face. Priceless! Also think Tyrion’s and Jamie’s look pretty good considering they’re nasty Lannister people.
From a beginner watercolor class, Blue = COLD, Red = WARM/hot, hence the contrasting shadows of blue and the warm light on the other side…ice and fire. It would have been more symmetrical if they had all the blue on one side and all the red on the other, but maybe would have been more boring? Hard to tell unless somebody flips some of the images.

I think the most likely explanation for the blue is that sometime just before the photo session, as they were lining up, papa smurf strode by and gently touched peoples cheeks offering blessings. Left or right cheek, depending on what side you were on, obviously.

For everyone complaining about the photoshop/airbrush quality of these pics – please click on them to look at the full size pictures.
There’s no airbrushing going on in the full size posters, that’s just an artefact of the shrinkage.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the colour is real and not photoshopped either. They have the actors to hand, it would be the work of 10 minutes per actor to sit them in front of two different coloured stage lights and take a bazillion photos. Photoshopping the colour would actually be more work.

These are absolutely beautiful! Blurs the line between digital art and straight-up photography, and I like that they’re not really intended to look realistic.
The meaning is kind of on-the-nose/obvious: that all the characters, whether we love them or loathe them, are afflicted by something very, very dark–and will this darkness overtake them completely?
My only complaint is that there weren’t more of the portraits! Would have loved to see Stannis, Brienne, Melisandre, Jorah, Sam, Ygritte and just about anybody else.
