Game of Thrones meets Lord of the Rings meets Star Wars

Is there any better way for Stannis Baratheon to meet the inevitable than by listening to a rousing speech from King Aragorn of Gondor? How about adding lightsabers to the mix before changing the Bolton army? This is exactly the kind of stuff you get when people begin to jones for Game of Thrones. Thanks to Imagine Nation on YouTube, we get to see this particular wish-fulfillment scenario played out on our computer screens.

Honestly, I half expected Mel Gibson to give his Braveheart speech as part of this as well…please, someone make this happen. The editing of this video is perfect, as it cuts from Aragorn’s uplifting words to Stannis’ resigned smile.

"I see in your eyes, the same fear that would take the heart of me."

That’s probably one of my most favorite lines from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This also begs the question: why haven’t we started a petition to have David Benioff and Dan Weiss add Viggo Mortensen to the cast of Game of Thrones? Seriously, he would be a perfect Stark. Maybe they could recast Uncle Benjen, and bring in Viggo as the Hooded Man in Winterfell for next season. Oh, how a man can dream.

Still though, while J.R.R. Tolkien’s world crosses over nicely with Westeros (George R.R. Martin has said that he admires Tolkien greatly), the real icing on the cake is the drawing of the lightsabers. Maybe this is what Lightbringer really looks like. Maybe Azor Ahai was a great Jedi who defeated the Sith Lord of the Long Night, and Lightbringer was his lightsaber…sorry, I’m geeking out again.
