It’s time to go sailing. We’ve had reports in the last day suggesting that Linen Mill Studios is gearing up for filming dates for Game of Thrones Season 6, and that there’s a full-sized ship set on the premises.
My first thought was that this was more proof that Victarion Greyjoy and crew would be setting sail for Slaver’s Bay in his quest to meet the Queen of Dragons. (The “castle under construction” that was spotted is most likely Harrenhal, since that’s the other major set piece that lives at Linen Mill.) But then another report turned up which raised some interesting questions.
Yahoo TV reported that, not only is the studio prepping for filming, but that Kit Harington, despite having been spotted in Almería over the weekend, is back in Northern Ireland. Yahoo says he was staying in a hotel in Bainbridge near Linen Mill, prompting speculation as to what he might be filming there, if anything.
Furthermore, a series of tweets claimed that Harington was in a coffee shop in Belfast. Yes, tweets don’t necessarily mean anything, but the reports are starting to line up here.
Belfast is about a 30-40 minute drive from Bainbridge, for what that’s worth.
Sadly, Harington refused to take pictures, so this isn’t a Hair Watch entry. But if Yahoo TV is correct, it’s interesting that he would stay near Linen Studios. Perhaps characters besides the Greyjoys will be taking to the sea? I cannot imagine Jon Snow will want to go to Harrenhal. (No one wants to go to Harrenhal.)
Or is HBO just paying Harington to hang out in random Game of Thrones filming locations all summer, just to screw with obsessive fans?
