Natalie Dormer wanders through The Forest in new trailer
Natalie Dormer has been charming TV audiences for a while now, as both Anne Boleyn in The Tudors and as Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones. Now, she’s trading period glamour for screams of terror in an upcoming supernatural thriller, The Forest. The creepy-looking film just missed out on a timely Halloween release, but is confirmed to hit theaters January 8th. Check out the latest trailer:
Dormer plays a woman who enters Japan’s legendary Aokigahara forest—better known as the “suicide forest” due to its morbid history of, well, suicides—to look for her twin sister, who reportedly went missing within. The trailer is a brief but fascinating glimpse at what may be in store for Dormer, who appears to slip naturally into the lead role of a horror film. (Somewhat less exciting is the synopsis, which continues to emphasize that Dormer’s sister is a twin—likely a key element of the film’s major plot twist.) Of course, this all ties back to Thrones, since Margaery has been forced to enter a creepy old forest where she might possibly die while Lannister father and daughter get to fight zombies and meddle in other peoples’ love lives. Typical Casterly Rock privilege.
