Game of Thrones Hilarity Roundup, Audiobook Edition

It’s been a few years since the audiobook version of A Dance with Dragons hit store shelves, and without a release date for The Winds of Winter in sight, it’s hard to know when we’ll see another one.

In the absence of a new audiobook, some fans are taking matters into their own hands and creating supplementary ones. For example, a few of you may remember a gentleman named Steve Love who appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! several months back, right before the Season 5 finale. Love turned in a couple of terrific impressions of characters from the show—he even got to show off his best Jon Snow for Kit Harington himself.

Now, Mr. Love has found a new way to show off his Game of Thrones impressions. He recorded a Tyrion chapter from A Clash of Kings and posted it to his YouTube channel, and even though he admits he “can’t do Cersei,” his Bronn, Varys, Tyrion, and Littlefinger are all pretty solid.

And of course he recorded the whole thing in the voice of Ser Jorah Mormont, so we’ve got five voices for the price of four. If Mr. Love set up a Kickstarter account to finance his recording of the entire series, I’d at least give it a look.

Elsewhere, another YouTuber has been having fun with the official Song of Ice and Fire audiobooks by remixing Roy Dotrice’s voiceover so it sounds like the veteran actor is singing Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Incidentally, Dotrice also played Hallyne the Pyromancer back in Game of Thrones Season 2. He and George R.R. Martin had worked together during Martin’s time in Hollywood, so Martin thought of Dotrice when it came time to choose a voice for the audiobooks.

Anyway, we need a new book soon, because fans clearly have too much time on their hands if they’re repurposing the old ones like this, delightful as this particular repurposing is.
