Watch: First New Footage From Game of Thrones Season 6!

Well, the hits from HBO just keep on coming, as its yearender promo revealed the first new footage from Game of Thrones Season 6. So, hold onto your seats, and away we go!

"2015 has been magical. Here’s what’s coming to @HBO in 2016. https://t.co/FzdLPuDgYW— HBO (@HBO) December 7, 2015"

As you can plainly see, the video was tweeted by the official Game of Thrones Twitter account, and it shows three scenes.

  • Daenerys with a dragon torque around her neck, standing by a body of water. She looks like she’s been in the wild for a bit.
  • Ramsay Bolton grimmly leading a Bolton army to who-knows-where. Possibly the Battle of the Bastards?
  • A short-haired Cersei giving Tommen a sweet hug. She is smiling, Tommen. RUN!

And then of course HBO topped off the video with a scene from Season 5. I’m including it because it’s still awesome.

I’ve got to say, this new HBO marketing push is certainly much more palatable than last year’s much reviled “Raven Sends the Sight” campaign, which it pulled on us using Twitter. How dare the network make us talk about its show. So, the tally of Season 6 material we’ve received before Christmas has been:

  • Jon Snow teaser poster.
  • Teaser trailer with old footage but new narration from Bloodraven and Bran.
  • And now, the yearender comes a few weeks ahead of schedule, showing a handful of scenes from Season 6.

All in all, I’d say we’re off to a great start. And if Season 6 ends up living up to the promise of the leaked filming photos and video, we are possibly in for the greatest season in Game of Thrones history.
