Take a Look at Best Buy’s Exclusive Covers for the Season 5 Boxset

The details about the DVD and Blu-ray exclusives for Game of Thrones Season 5 have started spilling out, even though the hardcopies themselves won’t be in stores until March 15th of next year. Yesterday we learned about the Dance of Dragons animated special. Today we have the collector’s edition covers that are available exclusively through Best Buy.

Last year, the big story was the addition of House Martell—fans of Oberyn Martell could express their loyalty by purchasing a boxset emblazoned with the sun and spear of his House. This year, a new House has earned its own Collectors Edition cover, although I’m pretty sure no one would actually want to pledge themselves to it: House Bolton.

Because who wants a direwolf when you can have a flayed-naked upside-down man on your display shelf? I do believe my response to that is “Thanks, but pass.”

Note that, in comparison to last year’s House Martell cover, this looks more like a painted symbol on plaster, as opposed to the woven banners from before. I think I actually like it slightly better, even if it is yellow on tan.

And then there’s House Targaryen, which currently has the best of House Lannister and Varys the Master of Spies under its banner (The Targaryen cover has also changed a bit from last year—it’s more monochromatic). Despite the fact that the only person with actual Targaryen blood happens to be AWOL at the moment, I still think this house is your best bet for backing.

All three covers are available now for pre-order through Best Buy’s website, for just $39.99.
