EastEnders star Tamer Hassan joins Game of Thrones Season 6

Speaking exclusively to Bang Showbiz at the premiere of Breakdown, English actor Tamer Hassan revealed that he will be appearing on Game of Thrones Season 6.

“I just finished doing ‘Game of Thrones,’ I loved it,” he said. “I can’t say too much about it but I’m part of that.”

Hassan couldn’t quite honor his promise, as he let a big clue slip shortly thereafter.

"It was lovely, it was a great job. It was wonderful to be there. You’ll see me quite a bit, it’s exciting what you’re going to see…Learning that Dothraki language was a feat in itself… so I’ve given you a little bit but I’m not going to say too much!"

So either he’s playing a member of the Dothraki, or an Essosian sociologist who learned the Dothraki language. Probably the first one.

Tamer Hassan in NCIS.

With his swarthy look and solid build (he owns a boxing gym in London), Hassan looks the part of a Dothraki. Given that he’s 47 years old, odds are that he’s playing a khal. Among the Dothraki, if you’ve reached that age and are still alive, you’re probably in charge.

The actors playing members of the Dothraki were pretty active on social media during filming for Season 6, so we know who a lot of them are. There’s Elie Haddad, the guy who posted a page from a Season 6 script on Instagram, model/actor Staz Nair, Maltese actor Andrei Claude, Diogo Sales, and New Zealand-born actor Joe Naufahu, who will have a “multi-episode arc” as Khal Jhogo. A lot of those guys appeared in social media photos together throughout filming, but this is the first we’re hearing about Hassan. Maybe he filmed his scenes mainly with other members of the cast, or maybe he just didn’t pal around as much.

Hassan’s comment about seeing him “quite a bit” indicates that he’ll have a prominent role. Perhaps he’ll be the main point of contact for Daenerys, who will be traveling with a Dothraki khalasar again in Season 6. My money’s on either him or Naufahu’s character.
