New casting info for members of the new Dothraki horde

When last we saw Daenerys Targaryen, she was being surrounded by members of a Dothraki horde while her dragon slept off his recent fight with the Sons of the Harpy. We don’t know exactly what’s going to happen to her in Season 6 (although spoilers suggest she’ll get into a few tight spots before it’s all over), but odds are good she’ll be spending a lot of time with members of this new group.

During the off-season, we became familiar with several of the performers who would be playing members of that group, including actor/model/X-Factor contestant Staz Nair. Now, we have a character name. According to Nair’s CV at Waring & McKenna, he’ll be playing someone named Qhono. It also looks like he’ll be playing Rocky in Fox’s remake The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which should provide some fun crossover GIFs once Season 6 is over.

As fansite Watchers on the Wall points out, the name “Qhono” sounds a lot like “Qhogo,” which is the name of one of two characters described in the second list of Season 6 casting notices that broke last year. Those notices were clearly casting the parts of Dothraki men, and given how close “Qhono” is to “Quogo,” it seems likely that the notice either misspelled the name or producers changed it slightly during filming. Either way, we’re betting that this is Nair’s role.

Also, we have a new actor in what looks like a Dothraki part. According to his CV at Curtis Brown, actor Deon Lee-Williams will be playing a “young warrior” in Game of Thrones.

Around four months ago, HBO put out a casting call for a “young warrior” who belongs to a “warrior race.” In other words, it was casting another member of the Dothraki. This character was a little unique, as he’s described as being shorter and smaller than his companions, but also smarter and quicker-witted. He’s a Dothraki nerd, basically, which is great. It’s possible Lee-Williams is playing this character.

According to their CVs, both Nair and Dee-Williams worked under “various” directors on Game of Thrones, so expect them to turn up in multiple episodes.
