Someone should tell Natalie Dormer that the official promotional period for Game of Thrones Season 6 hasn’t even started yet, and probably won’t for at least another two-four weeks, depending on HBO’s schedule. (The typical promotional period for a TV show is four weeks. Bigger named productions get a six week period: think back to last summer’s promotional push for The Muppets.)
But poor Dormer has been front and center on the Game of Thrones line since January, what with her “everywhere at once” full court press for The Forest. (And if you think it’s odd she’s out pushing a flop of a horror film this hard, you’re not alone, especially since all she’s been talking about the whole time is Game of Thrones.)
But apparently Dormer is starting to get tired of the endless repeated question that she has tried to answer every which way possible, from “He’s dead, Jim” to “Well he’s dead…right now.” All she wants if for someone to ask her about something other than the current status of Jon Snow, specifically whether he’s an ex-crow, bereft of life and someone who has ceased to be.
Talking to Metro.uk, she finally broke, telling the interview to just stop, already.
We’re all going to find out if Jon Snow is coming back soon, guys, so just put it on ice for the moment. Quite literally put it on snow!
Apparently it worked, because for the first time in quite a while, the majority of the interview is actually focused on her movie, which opens tomorrow in the UK. Let’s hope with that done, Dormer can take a break, and be ready to face another round of endless Jon Snow questions coming in March. Though perhaps they’ll change it up and ask why Margaery’s face wasn’t among the ones hanging on the wall in yesterday’s round of promotional posters? Inquiring minds want to know…
Meanwhile, John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) isn’t anywhere near as fed up yet (give him a couple months). In an interview with Digital Spy, he revealed that he didn’t know about Jon Snow’s death before he read about it, and talked about how much he’ll miss working with Kit Harington.
"You think, ‘It’s terrible that Jon Snow’s not going to be in it anymore’, but it’s more terrible for me that Kit’s not going to be on set every day. Not that I’d be acting with him anyway [if he survived], but that presence will be missing. People from season one are quite thin on the ground now, so all the old compadres are being taken out of it."
It’s kind of amazing, when you think about it, that Sam is one of the few characters to survive all the way from Season 1 until now. Also, I note that Bradley isn’t entertaining the notion that Jon Snow may be coming back. He’s pretty firm about it. “Jon Snow dying – boo hoo, get over it,” he said. “But my professional relationship with this guy that I love very much, who is the first person I ever acted with professionally, I’m not going to ever do that again, so it’s hard to stop those real things creeping into it.”
