So a Game of Thrones commercial with new footage just aired (Update: Official Video!)

Multiple people round the internet are reporting that a new commercial for Game of Thrones Season 6 aired last night during the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. This commercial seems to have dropped out of nowhere, and while there’s no video at the moment, enterprising fan Natasha Romanuff made screencaps. New footage ahoy. (UPDATE: scroll to the bottom of the post for video.)

SPOILERS EVERYWHERE, PEOPLE

Don’t let this happen to you. Avoid spoilers.

Okay. Let’s look at the new images, courtesy of Natasha Romanuff. We’ll just jump right to the main event:

That certainly does look like a giant bursting through a gate. I’m not entirely sure it’s Castle Black, though, although it could be. Spoilers from around four months ago reported that Jon Snow, Sansa, Littlefinger, and Ramsay would be having a meeting inside Winterfell, with a giant (probably Wun Wun) banging on the gates. This may be a shot of that.

The Night’s King grabs Bran’s arm! How dare he! This looks like another shot from a scene from the Season 6 trailer, when Bran encounters the Night’s King on a hill, probably in a vision.

Daenerys with the Dothraki horde. It seems she’s marching with the other slaves. That can’t be heartening for a woman who’s dedicated herself to stamping out slavery.

Tyrion, Grey Worm, and Missandei do some governing in Meereen.

Again, this seems like an extended version of the quick shot we got of Sansa running through a forest in the trailer. Odds are this is Sansa and Theon immediately after their escape from Winterfell.

As Romanuff points out, the coloring on these shots make it look like they’re from the same sequence as the ones with Sansa and Theon. Does this mean Brienne will, in fact, find Sansa, or maybe she’ll just miss her again?

If Tommen and the High Sparrow have a battle of wills in Season 6, my money’s on the High Sparrow. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if the High Sparrow managed to convert the young king to his particular brand of religious fanaticism.

Note the shot in the upper left-hand corner: it looks like Jaime will have a talk with the High Sparrow as well.

Here’s No One and No One hanging out in the House of Black and White

Again, this looks like another angle on the moment from the trailer where Tyrion is in a dark cave. Is he visiting Viserion and Rhaegal, and if so, to what end?

Speaking of dragons, here’s a completely awesome shot of Drogon flying over the Dothraki horde and casting a huge shadow. Something tells me they’re going to regret treating Daenerys poorly in a minute.

And that’s it for now! Hopefully there’ll be an official version of the commercial available before long.

UPDATE: HBO finally put up the official version of the trailer. Behold:

Not long now.
