On Friday, we got word that in the middle of the Insanity Smarch Sportsball thingamajig that everyone makes little charts for, a Game of Thrones trailer had aired. This was a touch confounding. After all, Sportsball doesn’t air on HBO–People Punching Other People does. (Not to disparage the People Punching Programs, but most of the time, you don’t see whole offices making little charts about them.) And more importantly, Game of Thrones trailers don’t air on Network TV.
Now I know my memory isn’t always the best, but I seriously cannot come up with another instance where a trailer for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones aired on either Network TV or Basic Cable. (Commenters, your collective memory might be better on this.) But there it was, shots of people’s televisions, airing a Game of Thrones trailer, with brand new footage, right there on the Old People’s Network, CBS.
Yesterday afternoon, HBO was so good as to upload the official version to their YouTube channel. And though we’ve talked over some of what we saw via tweeted photos of a TV taken by cell phone (ah, technology), now that we’ve got the sexy hi res screen shots, let’s have our selves a little obsession session with the eye-candy up close and personal. (After all, it’s Easter, and you need a reason to ignore your family for a little bit between church and dinner.)
Just remember, this is network–no, swearing, sex, incest or blood please. Just spoilers!
