Have you ever heard the old adage: if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again? Well, in the case of Jacob Anderson, who plays Daenerys’ loyal bodyguard Grey Worm, that holds especially true. According to Exposé, the young actor gave what he called the “worst performance of his life” when he auditioned for Game of Thrones.
"It’s good to see everyone doing so well… I literally did two auditions, probably the worst auditions I’ve done in my life! And I still got the part."
Well, it’s not hard to ruin an audition when all you have to do is talk in a halting fashion and poke other people with spears and swords. At least he looks appropriate for the role—that may have been what landed him the gig.
I really enjoy Anderson and think he has done a great job as Grey Worm. I was actually extremely worried in Season 5 when he was attacked by the Sons of the Harpy, but thankfully he survived. And, unlike many fans, I’m actually a fan of the Missandei-Grey Worm pseudo-love story, as I think it brings an extra dimension to the character that’s not there in the books.
Moving on, according to Metro.co.UK, Maisie Williams is practicing her Faceless Man skills even when she’s not on set filming Game of Thrones. Apparently, Williams pilfered a risotto ball from the plate of actor Andy Serkis (Gollum in The Lord of the Rings movies, Supreme Leader Snoke in the new Star Wars series) at the Empire Awards—Serkis wasn’t seated at her table yet and she assumed the seat was going to be left empty.
Does Maisie Williams know who she stole from? This isn’t some B-list actor who’s filling a seat. This is Andy “Supreme Leader Snoke” Serkis. He will Force Choke the s**t out of her before she even has a chance to order another risotto ball. You just don’t mess with the power of the Dark Side like that, Maisie, you just don’t.
I like how she goes from the story of her thievery to crediting her stylist and wardrobe. Maisie Williams is an absolute treasure, and should forever be treated as such. Never change Maisie Williams, never change.
