The biggest question facing fans of Game of Thrones ahead of Season 6 is still focused on Jon Snow: is he alive or dead? Everyone involved with the show, including the man himself insists it’s the latter. When President Obama asked the producers if Jon Snow was dead, GoT director David Nutter told him the answer was yes.
Obama isn’t the only high-ranking official asking questions. Turns out that, over in the UK, the Palace also wants to know the status of Schrödinger’s Crow, so much so that when Kit Harington attended Wimbleton last summer, the duchess of Cornwall (that would be Camilla, to those who feel they’re on a first name basis with royalty) leaned over and asked him herself.
Harington revealed this tidbit today as we was recording an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show on ITV. The episode will air tomorrow. Quotes all via MetroUK.
Me and my brother got invited to Wimbledon as you do and a Royal was hosting, we didn’t know which Royal it was and it was the Duchess of Cornwall, and she was hosting it and we got sat with her, me and my brother. She leant over the table and said, “Are you dead?” No word of a lie.
He also admitted that he’ll be very glad when Season 6 starts airing so we will all see how dead he really is. He continues also to insist his only filming job was to play a corpse.
I was there for a little bit, I was there for about a month or two months, it was spread over a bit and I was playing a corpse.
Two months, playing a corpse? Ross was skeptical, as anyone who hears that would be. Of course, if the idea is that Jon Snow is a resurrected and animated corpse, perhaps this is not a total lie. In fact, it could conceivably be seen as true…from a certain point of view. Kit took Ross’ doubt in stride, continuing to insist he played dead for months.
I won’t tell you how many episodes I’m lying dead but it’s enough that I was out there for quite a while. It’s going to be so satisfying when you see it and you realise that I was telling the truth the whole time.
We’ll have to see about that, won’t we? It’s finally April—only 24 more days to go until we see who’s telling the truth.
