Game of Thrones actors predict reactions to the ending of the Season 6 premiere

By now it’s almost a cliche. People freak out over Game of Thrones twists. It started with Ned’s death, continued with the Red Wedding, and might have peaked with the death of Jon Snow. It’s gotten to the point where some other TV shows are clearly to elicit the same responses, and not always with success. (Ahem, The Walking Dead.)

But the twists coming in this new season will be different. People knew to record Unsullied reactions to the Red Wedding, because a subset of fans knew the Red Wedding was coming. A smaller subset knew Ned’s head was to be shed, and a larger one knew by the end of last season that Jon Snow would be bled.

But when it comes to the Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere, no one knows what’s ahead…except the cast members, and others who attended the Game of Thrones Season 6 premiere event in LA. They can’t say anything until Sunday night at 10 p.m., but The Hollywood Reporter asked several of them how they think the audience will react to the end of the premiere episode, entitled “The Red Woman,” and they seem to think we’re all going to flip.

"Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth): “You’re joking. You’re joking!”DeObia Oparei (Areo Hotah): “Oh my god!”Joseph Naufahu (Khal Moro): “Damn! Oh damn!”Kristian Nairn (Hodor): “Hodor!”Michael McElhatton (Roose Bolton): “I can’t believe they …”"

Yeah, they don’t let McElhatton finish that sentence. We’re all going to have to wait to find out how it ends.

Maisie Williams, on the other hand, things we’re going to be “[s]uper confused. I know I was when I read it! All I kept thinking was, ‘Wow. That’s incredible.'”

People seem to agree that “The Red Woman” ends with a bang, but Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark) warns us that it’s just the beginning. “Brace yourself for more,” he said. “There are things happening this season that are going to be remembered as the biggest events that ever happened on Game of Thrones. We look back and we think about the Red Wedding, Hardhome…imagine rolling all of that into one ball. That’s some of what you can expect for season six. It’s just one [scream] after another. It’s crazy. It’s so good.”

John Bradley (Sam Tarly) agreed with him. “Everything’s heightened,” Bradley said. He also teased his character’s journey a bit over on ABC News. Sam, who has left the Wall with Gilly and her son, thinks he’s heading for safety down south, but it might not be that easy. “You find him at the start of season 6 in, you know, quite a positive frame of mind,” Bradley said. “And jeopardy — spoiler alert — jeopardy is introduced seconds into his first appearance.”

Right then, everyone. Have pillows (to clutch), remotes (to pause), and Twitter apps (to freak out publicly) at the ready on Sunday! We’ll all take the wild ride together and see if the actors are right about how badly lids will flip.
