See A Major Twist In King’s Landing (Video)
By Ani Bundel
Last week, we skipped over King’s Landing completely, but that was only because the plan this week was to spend more time in it than we have so far this season. In fact, the last time we spent so much time in King’s Landing in one episode was when Cersei took her Walk of Shame last season.
That’s fitting, as tonight, it seemed like all of King’s Landing was getting ready for Walk of Shame Part II: First Mud. But would Margaery really be stripped down to the skin and marched from one end of the city to the other? Or did the schemers in the Red Keep manage to stop everything before it began?

Spoilers are full of sin
Despite what you may think of the factions within and without the Red Keep, it is in very few people’s interest for Margaery to make the Walk of Shame through King’s Landing. It may be a kick in the teeth for Cersei to ever admit, but she is not The Queen in the same way, nor was she ever beloved by the people in the way that Queen Margaery is. Though it was a humiliation for the Crown to have the Queen Mother walked through the streets in this manner, the truth is, she was already hated by the people, most of whom believe the nasty rumors about the Lannister family and their family being horribly morally corrupt, as embodied by that terrible Imp who murdered Joffrey and Tywin. It was no loss to Kevan, the Tyrells, or the High Sparrow to allow this ugly power play occur.
On the other hand, it is in absolutely no one’s interest to allow Margaery to repeat that walk. The Tyrells cannot lose face like this, Kevan, whose support comes from Lady Olenna cannot afford it, Tommen cannot afford it. But most importantly, it is not even in the interest of the High Sparrow or the Faith Militant to allow this to happen. They need the Crown to accept them, and not go to war against them. That is why Margaery has been allowed these visits with the High Sparrow, and her brother. That is why Tommen has found himself have chats with the High Sparrow that echo those he had with grandfather Tywin. And while Kevan and Olenna have been holding their noses and getting into a deal with Jaime and Cersei in order to prevent the Walk of Shame from happening, it turns out Tommen and Margaery have taken matters into their own hands and made a deal.

And Jaime has been fired from the Kingsguard. OUCH! Shades of Barristan the Bold’s firing from earlier too.
