See Cersei Choose Violence (Video)

Last week, Olenna told Cersei that if she was half as bright as she thinks she is, she’d hightail it out of King’s Landing and back to Casterly Rock before the High Sparrow could get his mitts on her. Sadly, Cersei failed to heed this wise advice, insisting that she was needed in the capitol, partly to look after her last living child, and partly because Cersei cannot truly believe she’s lost to that barefoot zealot, and believes that she will somehow gain back her power and get vengeance on those who wronged her.

With that set up in place, we finally reached Cersei’s trial this week. And things did not start out well for anyone.

SPOILER ALERT

Maybe I just want to fly
Wanna live but don’t wanna die
Maybe I just want to breath
Maybe I should just spoil things.

Don’t make us spoil things

The trailer teased us about seeing The Undead Mountain Who Must Smell Pretty Bad In That Metal Suit finally in some major one on one combat action. Eugene Simon, who plays Lancel Lannister, teased that the fight scene between the Sparrows and the Mountain on the grounds of the palace.

And it was worth it.

A bit on the side of WunWun versus the Nightswatch. Only one has to die in order for the rest to get the message. Unfortunately, the Mountain can only do that to the lower Sparrows. Cersei clearly wishes the Mountain could do the same to the High Sparrow….and maybe just a little to her son.

I will say, Kevan’s informing her of the gathering was cold. But not as cold as learning that The Mountain, who we can see will be the most fearsome opponent will not be her champion in a trial by combat. One wonders if the High Sparrow provoked that conflict to get a measure of what The Mountain could do, and then once he had said measure of it, decided it would be better to get Tommen to void any chance she had at it.

(Oh and sorry Cleaganbowl truthers. Guess that’s off the table now too.)

So what did Qyburn investigate anyway? And what more does he mean?
