See what happened in Meereen (Video)

Last week, the show surprised most of the audience when it gave us not one but TWO scenes in Meereen, when we all thought “Battle of the Bastards” would take place entirely in the North. The first scene was especially impressive. A secondary battle in its own right, the opening ten minutes of the hour showed Daenerys Targaryen’s ground and air forces working in tandem for the first time, taking out Harpies, Masters alike. She set a couple of the Masters’ ships on fire, but took the rest, making up for the burning of her previous fleet, back at the beginning of Season 6.

The second scene provided Daenerys with the rest of the boats she needed, courtesy of Yara and Theon Greyjoy. Beyond the fact that Yara and Dany hit it off like, well, a house a’fire (dragon fire, natch!), Dany now has everything she needs to sail to Westeros: an army (khalasar), a navy (Masters’ ships, plus Ironborn boats), Marines (Unsullied), and an air force (dragons). There’s nothing keeping her in Meereen now….or is there?

So Dany decided she was leaving Daario behind. Sad, but not all that unexpected. It was a little bit as if the show took a random detour into a romance novel, or a Nickolas Sparks book, but then it quickly passed. And after six long seasons of Dany traveling hitter and thither throughout Essos, always headed the wrong direction, tonight she finally changed course.

She headed West.

It was worth the wait. Oh yes it was. Finally Khalessi is COMING TO WESTEROS.

Oh, and how did Varys get back so soon?
