The Game of Thrones panel at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con has just finished, and before exiting stage left, we were gifted with a short teaser for Game of Thrones Season 7. Now, there isn’t any footage for next season yet, but there are some nice shots of the production team prepping the sets and props for filming. Check it out:
“Welcome home, my queen.”
You’ve got to love HBO’s flair for the dramatic here. There are a couple of noteworthy scenes from the teaser. For instance, it appears as if there’s going to be a funeral somewhere in Westeros…as noted by these painted burial eyes:
Then we have the banner of House Lannister unfolding in what appears to be the throne room:
Here’s an interesting look at painted map markers. It looks like someone is marking enemy movements. Are those House Stark sigils?
To whom does this mysterious reflection belong? Jaime? Arya? We can’t decide.
For comparison, here’s Jaime’s character poster from Season 3:
And here’s Arya’s Season 3 character poster:
It definitely appears to be a reflection of Jaime’s Season 3 character poster…sneaky video edit team, very sneaky.
Since this was the only real news-worthy thing to come out of San Diego Comic-Con in regards to Game of Thrones, I would hazard a guess that we’ll be pouring over this video with a fine-toothed comb to find any clues we can.
Then, of course, there’s the line uttered by Tyrion: “Welcome home, my queen.” Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t remember Tyrion saying those words in Season 6. Have we just heard our very first line from Season 7? Oh, how the Game of Thrones gods like to tease us.
